The 2011 Beta 400 RR refines the redesigned platform in its second year. The 398cc liquid-cooled DOHC four-valve single with EFI and five-speed gearbox continues in the updated steel frame with KYB 48mm fork and Sachs rear shock. The chassis has been validated through a full production cycle, and the 400’s strong mid-range torque remains its defining characteristic. As the penultimate year of the 400cc displacement before Beta transitioned to the 350 and 390 models, the 2011 400 RR represents a well-sorted enduro machine with proven capability.

Dry vs. Wet Torque
Oil drain plug: always wet; reduce 15–20% with sealant. All other values assume dry threads.
Late-Production 400 Maintenance
As the 400 RR approaches the end of its production run, parts availability for the five-speed gearbox and 400-specific components becomes a consideration. Careful torque application helps preserve components that may be difficult to replace. The oil drain plug sump and valve cover bolt threads are particularly important to protect — damaged case threads on a 400-specific casting may require specialized repair rather than a simple bolt replacement.
Thread Locker Recommendations
Medium-strength (blue) thread locker for the 2011 Beta 400 RR:
- Rear sprocket nuts
- All disc bolts
- Linkage bolts
- Subframe bolts
- Exhaust header bolts
- Skid plate bolts
Torque Wrench Selection
A 3/8-inch drive click-type for 20–100 Nm and a 1/4-inch drive for 10–12 Nm hardware. Two drive sizes for the well-sorted 400cc enduro.
