The 1982 Honda CR250 continues the monoshock Pro-Link suspension era with further development of the 250cc platform. The 1982 model received updates to the engine and suspension that made it a capable and popular choice in the 250cc class. In the vintage MX community, the early-1980s CR250 models are well-regarded for their improved handling over the dual-shock predecessors. Keeping the fasteners at correct torque on the 1982 CR250 preserves the handling geometry and mechanical reliability that Honda built into this machine.

Linkage and Swingarm Service on Early Pro-Link CR250s
On a 1982 CR250, the Pro-Link rear suspension linkage has been in use for four decades. At this age, all bearing surfaces in the linkage should be inspected and replaced if they show wear or corrosion. Worn linkage bearings cause the rear suspension to feel notchy or stiff through its stroke, degrading both handling and rider feedback. Replace bearings with metric needle roller units that match the original specifications. Clean the pivot bores carefully before installing new bearings and pack with a high-quality multipurpose grease before assembly.
