Regular oil changes are the lifeblood of your 2022 Beta 125 RR Race, supporting smooth performance, reliability, and a long engine life. This two-stroke model features a separate transmission oil system–you maintain the transmission oil just as you would on the latest generation two-stroke race bikes, not the engine oil of a four-stroke.
Required Tools & Supplies
- 13 mm wrench or socket
- 8 mm wrench or socket (for skid plate if installed)
- Torque wrench
- Drain pan
- Fresh 10W-50 gear oil (720 mL)
- Clean rags & gloves
Quick Notes Specific to the 2022 Beta 125 RR Race
- Oil capacity: 720 mL of 10W-50 gear oil for the transmission
- No engine-side oil change; this is a pre-mix bike requiring correct gas/oil ratio for engine lubrication
- Check the oil level through the inspection bolt located just behind the brake pedal return spring
Step-by-Step Oil Change Instructions
- Warm up the transmission
Let the engine run for a minute or two to warm the transmission oil for better draining. Shut the engine off. - Remove the skid plate (if installed)
Use the 8 mm wrench or socket to remove bolts and set the skid plate aside. - Remove the drain bolt
Find the 13 mm drain bolt beneath the transmission case. Position a drain pan underneath and remove the bolt. Let all oil drain completely. - Reinstall the drain bolt
Clean and inspect the sealing washer or o-ring. Reinstall the drain bolt and torque to spec (check your manual, but most users torque to approximately 10-15 Nm). - Fill with fresh oil
Remove the filler cap and pour in 720 mL of a high-quality 10W-50 gear oil. Refit the cap securely. - Check the oil level
With the bike upright and level, remove the oil check bolt behind the brake pedal return spring. Add or remove oil as necessary, so oil is just at the bottom of the threads. Reinstall the check bolt. - Reinstall the skid plate
Torque all bolts securely. - Final check
Restart the bike briefly to ensure no leaks. Wipe any spills and double-check torque on all bolts.
2022 Beta 125 RR Race Model Tips & Important Notes
- This Beta model's oil change process is unique from four-strokes due to its pre-mix, two-stroke engine; don't search for an engine oil filter—you simply manage transmission oil.
- The transmission oil also lubricates the clutch, which is critical for performance riding–change regularly, especially after deep water or mud rides.
- Check Beta's recommended change intervals and adjust frequency based on how aggressively you ride and your conditions.
- Always use quality oil and correct fill capacity to avoid clutch issues or premature transmission wear.
Keep your 2022 Beta 125 RR Race at peak performance by making oil changes a routine part of your maintenance. Trust MotoSport for all your Beta parts and service needs!
