What You’ll Need
- 800 ml of high-quality 10W-50 engine oil (recommended: BARDAHL XTC 10W-50)
- New paper oil filter
- Socket set & seeger ring pliers
- Drain pan
- Parts-cleaning brush & shop towels
- Torque wrench (6 Nm & 20 Nm settings)
- Protective gloves
Steps to Change the Oil on Your 2010 Beta 450 RR

Warm up your engine.
Start your 450 RR and let it idle until it reaches normal operating temperature. This thins the oil, allowing for a more complete drain. Caution: Warm oil and engine parts can cause burns. -
Stabilize the bike.
Place the bike upright on level ground, preferably on a stand. Remove the lower plastic bumper (if equipped) by unscrewing its three fasteners. -
Drain the engine oil.
Put a drain pan beneath the engine. Locate the main drain bolt and remove it–let the oil flow completely into the pan. Carefully clean the removed bolt and its wire mesh filter with solvent or a suitable cleaner. -
Replace the filter.
Find the oil filter cover, held in place by two screws. Remove these screws, then use seeger ring pliers to extract the paper oil filter. Install the new paper filter, reattach the cover, and torque the screws to 6 Nm. -
Inspect & reinstall.
Once oil has fully drained, wipe the sealing surfaces clean. Replace the wire mesh filter and drain bolt with a fresh O-ring or sealing washer if needed. Torque the drain bolt to 20 Nm. -
Refill new oil.
Remove the oil fill cap from the left side cover. Pour in 800 ml of 10W-50 oil. -
Check for leaks & oil level.
Start the engine, let it idle for five minutes, then shut it off and wait five more minutes. Inspect for leaks around the filter and drain plug. Use the sight window to verify correct oil level (should be near the middle). -
Dispose of old oil responsibly.
Used oil is hazardous–collect it in a sealed container and bring it to a certified recycling facility.
