Step-by-Step Coolant Change Guide
- Let the engine cool: The system is pressurized when hot. Work on the bike only when the engine is completely cool.
- Remove seats and shrouds if necessary: Depending on your working space and preference, you may want to remove the seat and right radiator shroud for better access to the radiator cap and hoses.
- Open the radiator cap: Located at the top of the right radiator, remove the cap slowly to release any residual pressure.

Locate and remove the drain bolt: On the lower area of the engine, find the coolant drain bolt, typically near the water pump cover. Place a drain pan beneath the bolt, then remove it and allow the coolant to fully drain out. Inspect the copper crush washer; replace if damaged for a secure seal on reassembly.
– Note: Unlike some previous Beta models, there is no dedicated bleed screw on the radiators for 2023 models. - Reinstall the drain bolt: Once drained, reinstall and torque the bolt securely to prevent leaks.

Fill with new coolant: Using a funnel, add new coolant through the radiator fill neck.
- Fill until the level reaches just above the top of the radiator core (the visible metal fins beneath the cap), but do not overfill into the neck.
- Add slowly to minimize air bubbles. If needed, tilt the bike slightly side to side to help release trapped air.
- Replace the radiator cap: Secure the cap once the correct coolant level is achieved.
- Start and idle the bike: With the bike upright, start the engine and let it idle for 5-10 minutes. This circulates the coolant, removes air pockets, and ensures accurate level checking.

- No radiator bleed screws: 2020 and newer Beta 2-strokes, including your 2023 250 RR Race, no longer have radiator bleeder screws. Air is managed by rocking the bike and checking the fill level as described.
