Step-by-Step Coolant Change Procedure

Allow the Engine to Cool
Never attempt to open the cooling system when the engine is hot. Wait until the engine is completely cold to avoid burns and pressurized coolant spray. -

Position a Drain Pan

Add New Coolant
Mix your coolant to a 1:1 ratio with distilled water, unless using a pre-mixed product. Slowly fill the radiator until the fluid level reaches the filler neck. -
Eliminate Air Pockets
Gently rock the bike side to side or squeeze the radiator hoses to help remove trapped air. Top off as needed. -
Reinstall the Radiator Cap
Ensure the cap is clean and its spring functions smoothly. Close it tightly. -
Check for Leaks
Start the engine and let it idle briefly. Inspect for leaks at the drain bolt, hoses, and cap. Shut down, allow to cool, and verify coolant level once again.
