Tools & Supplies Needed

  • Fresh coolant (consult your manual for type–most KX65 owners choose a high-performance motorcycle coolant)
  • Drain pan
  • 10mm socket or wrench
  • Phillips screwdriver

Step 1: Preparation

  • Ensure your KX65 is on a stable surface and the engine is completely cool before starting–hot coolant can cause burns.

  • Slowly pour new coolant into the radiator until the fluid level reaches the bottom of the fill neck.
  • On the KX65, it's important to avoid air pockets–gently rock the bike side to side and squeeze radiator hoses to help "burp" trapped air out of the system.
  • If your model has a radiator bleed screw, loosen it until coolant flows out without air bubbles, then retighten.

Step 6: Check for Leaks & Final Top-Off

  • Reinstall the radiator cap securely.
  • Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes. Watch for leaks and monitor coolant level as air escapes from the system.
