Step-by-Step Coolant Change Guide

  1. Let the Bike Cool Completely
    Coolant is under pressure when hot and can cause severe burns. Only begin once the engine and radiator have cooled to ambient temperature.
  2. Remove Seat and Side Panels
    Use the Phillips screwdriver to remove the seat and left/right side panels to access the radiator and coolant reservoir.
  3. Remove the Radiator Cap
    Place a thick rag over the cap and slowly turn it counterclockwise to release pressure. Wait until no hissing sound remains, then remove the cap completely.
  4. Drain the Coolant
    Locate the coolant drain bolt on the lower part of the water pump assembly (typically 8mm or 10mm). Place a drain pan beneath the bolt, then remove it along with its copper washer.
    Allow coolant to fully drain from the radiator and engine.
  5. Remove the Coolant Reservoir Hose (Optional)
    For a full system flush, disconnect the reservoir hose and allow any old coolant to drain from the overflow tank as well.
  6. Inspect and Reinstall Drain Bolt
    Replace the copper washer before reinstalling the drain bolt. Torque it to approx. 10 Nm (7.2 ft–lb). This helps prevent leaks.
  7. Flush the System (Recommended for Coolant Type Switch or Debris Removal)
    If changing coolant types, flush the system with distilled water. Never use plain water as a coolant replacement; only use as a temporary flush. You may use compressed air to remove all residue flush water if needed.
  8. Refill with Fresh Coolant
    Carefully pour new coolant into the radiator until full. Fill the overflow tank to the "full" mark. Squeeze the upper and lower radiator hoses gently to help release trapped air. 
  9. Bleed Air from the System
    With the radiator cap still off, briefly start the engine and let it idle for a few seconds to circulate coolant and move air bubbles to the top. Shut off the bike, top off coolant if needed, then reinstall the radiator cap securely.
  10. Reassemble Panels and Seat
    Reinstall the side plastics and seat, ensuring all fasteners are secure.
  11. Warm Up & Inspect
    Let the engine idle and reach operating temperature. Check for leaks at the drain bolt and hose connections. Inspect the coolant reservoir level once more and top off as needed.
