- Fresh engine coolant compatible with aluminum radiators and magnesium engine cases
- 10 mm wrench (for the coolant drain bolt)
- Philips or flathead screwdriver (for radiator shrouds, if removal is needed)
- Catch pan or bucket
- Funnel
- Shop rags

Ensure Engine Is Cool
Never attempt to open the radiator cap on a hot engine. Let the bike sit until the engine and radiators are completely cool to avoid burns and ensure a safe, mess-free job. -
Remove Radiator Cap
Locate the radiator cap on top of the right-side radiator. Twist it off to allow air into the system, which helps the coolant drain freely. -
Locate and Remove the Drain Bolt
On the right side of the engine, find the water pump with a 10 mm drain bolt at the lowest point. Place a catch pan underneath, then use your 10 mm wrench to carefully remove this bolt. Coolant will begin draining immediately, so position your catch pan accordingly.
Allow all fluid to drain completely from the system–lean the bike upright for better drainage if needed. -
Inspect Drain Bolt and Seal
Check the copper washer or seal on the drain bolt. Replace if it's damaged or flattened to prevent leaks. -
Reinstall Drain Bolt
Wipe the area clean and reinstall the drain bolt. It is recommended to torque the bolt to manufacturer spec (typically about 10 Nm or finger-tight plus a small twist if you don't have a torque wrench); overtightening can strip threads in the case. -
Fill With Coolant
Using a funnel, slowly add the recommended coolant directly into the radiator until it reaches the base of the filler neck. Premix coolant with distilled water if your product is concentrate type. -
Bleed Air From System
Air pockets can cause overheating or damage. Gently rock the bike side to side, then open the small bleed screw at the top of the right radiator (if equipped) until coolant seeps out steady. If no bleed screw exists, add coolant, replace the cap, then run the engine for a minute and top up as necessary. -
Reinstall Radiator Cap
Secure the cap once the coolant level is correct and no more bubbles appear. -
Check for Leaks & Test Ride
Wipe any spilled coolant, run the engine and inspect for leaks at the drain bolt, and confirm proper coolant circulation. After a short ride, check the coolant level again and top off if needed.
