Step-by-Step Coolant Change Procedure

  5. Flush the system (optional, but recommended):
    • Replace the drain bolt temporarily.
    • Fill the radiator with clean, soft water.
    • Run the engine for 2-3 minutes, then let it cool and drain again.

    This removes any sediment or old coolant residues.

  6. Reinstall and torque the drain bolt. The drain bolt should be torqued to 10 Nm (7.2 ft–lb) using a new copper washer if necessary.
  7. Mix and add fresh coolant.
    • Use a 50% coolant & 50% soft water mixture.
    • Fill the radiator until the core is just covered, avoid overfilling.
    • The system capacity is 1.20 liters (1.27 US qt).
  8. Bleed air from the system.
    • Shake the bike gently side-to-side.
    • Add more coolant if the level drops.
    • Look for and release any trapped air by squeezing hoses or tilting the bike; you may hear bubbles escape.
  9. Reinstall the radiator cap.
  10. Run the engine for several minutes. Allow the new coolant to circulate fully, checking for leaks at the drain bolt and seams.
  11. Re-check coolant level once cooled. Top off as needed.
