Tools – Supplies Needed
- Cool, dry workspace
- Drain pan
- 8mm socket or wrench
- Phillips screwdriver
- Fresh coolant (motorcycle-specific, ethylene glycol based–never pre-mixed tap water)
- Funnel
- Shop towels
- Gloves and safety glasses (recommended)
Step 1 – Preparation
- Ensure your KX250 engine is completely cool before starting. Hot coolant can cause severe burns.
- Stand the bike upright on a level surface for accurate draining and refilling.
Step 2 – Access the Radiator Cap
- On the 2002 KX250, remove the left-side radiator shroud using a Phillips screwdriver if needed, to easily access the radiator cap.
