Step-by-Step Coolant Change
- Let the Engine Cool
Never attempt to change coolant with a hot engine or radiator. Allow your KDX200 to cool completely to prevent burns or injury.
– Never check coolant levels or attempt draining while hot; wait for full cooldown. - Locate the Radiator Cap and Drain Bolt
The radiator fill cap is located at the top of the left radiator. The coolant drain bolt is typically found at the base of the water pump cover on the engine’s right side.
Place a drain pan underneath to catch old coolant. - Remove Radiator Cap
Loosen and remove the radiator cap to allow air into the system, helping the coolant drain faster. - Loosen Drain Bolt

Using a funnel, slowly pour in fresh coolant until it reaches the bottom of the filler neck. The KDX200 requires about 1.1 liters (approximately 1/3 gallon) of coolant . Pour slowly to allow air to escape. - Air Bleed the System
To prevent air pockets, bleed the cooling system by:- Lightly squeezing radiator hoses several times after filling.
- Loosening the small bleed bolt (if equipped) at the top of the cylinder head until coolant flows steadily, then retightening .
- Running the engine briefly with radiator cap off, watching for air bubbles to escape.
- Check Reserve Tank
Fill the reserve tank to the FULL mark, if equipped. Install its cap securely. - Reinstall Radiator Cap
