Tools & Materials

  • Phillips screwdriver & 8mm socket or wrench

Preparation

  • Ensure the DR250 is parked on a level surface with the engine fully cool.
  • Remove the seat and side panels using the screwdriver to access the radiator and reservoir bottle.

Draining the Old Coolant

  • Locate the radiator drain bolt (at the base of the water pump) on the right side of the engine. Place your drain pan underneath.

  • Using a funnel, slowly fill the radiator with new coolant until it reaches the base of the filler neck. Filling slowly helps prevent air pockets.
  • Fill the overflow (reservoir) tank to the specified level indicator.

Bleeding Air from the System

  • With the radiator cap off, start the engine and let it idle for a couple of minutes, gently rocking the bike side to side to help release trapped air. Top up coolant as needed.
  • Turn the engine off, let it cool, and check the radiator and reservoir levels again. Add more coolant if required.
  • Install the radiator cap firmly and replace all bodywork.
