Although AGV is best known for their association with Valentino Rossi and their racing heritage, unlike some of their competitors, their offer is comprised of a wide variety of different segments including race, street, off-road or dual sport helmets. The good example of that variety is the new AGV modular helmet NUMO EVO. NUMO (new modular) EVO is a new top-of-the-line modular helmet in the AGV collection, introduced first to the US market in January 2014. It's a new alternative to the less aggressively shaped and priced below $200 Miglia II which enjoyed great success as the sole modular alternative in AGV line so far. Developed with the use of the Pista GP technical knowledge and creative solutions from the AGV Extreme Standards, NUMO makes not only for an extremely safe but also very well equipped and fashionable choice for riders who look for a touring / city flip-up helmet.
Shell:
The AGV NUMO features a HIR-TH (High Resistant Thermoplastic Resin) shell and the helmets range in size from XS to XL.
Ventilation:
The IVS (Integrated Ventilation System) features ducts hollowed into the shell for improved air circulation inside the helmet and better aerodynamic efficiency. Air vents on the front and on the chin guard ensure a constant flow of air inside the helmet. Hot moist air is extracted via ducts hollowed into the polystyrene and thanks to the breathable fabric used in making the neck roll.
Visor:
The new visor has been treated with special scratch-resistant and anti-fog processes and also offers 100% protection against UV rays. The NUMO also comes with an anti-fog, scratch-resistant, tinted, internal sun visor that is operated from the outside and which can be removed for cleaning and replacement without the use of tools.
Inner Liners:
Great attention has been paid to the inner liners to ensure excellent comfort. The sanitized, breathable Lycra crown pad features micro-perforations, has a three-dimensional concave shape and is made from a pre-formed single piece to perfectly match the shape of the head. There is no stitching in any of the sensitive areas and differentiated density foam provides an excellent degree of comfort. These technical solutions for the crown pad are protected by three patents. Sanitized Dry-Comfort 3D cheek pads made from differentiated density foam and the incorporated neck roll provide extra comfort and soundproofing. The large chin guard provides protection against draughts and noise from below. The liners can be removed for washing, as can the breath deflector and chin guard.
Functionality / Safety:
The new visor opening / closing system features XQRS for speedy visor replacement and an interchangeable, replaceable, toothed mechanism allows personalized settings. There are three mechanisms available with different numbers of teeth and thickness for differing intended uses (Touring, Race and City). The chin guard is unlocked by pushing a single button downwards, i.e. in the opposite direction to that used to open it. This will prevent the guard from accidentally opening in the event of an impact. To guarantee maximum safety, the locking mechanism and pins are made of steel. The NUMO is P/J homologated and, as it has passed the homologation tests with the chin board both lowered (like a full-face helmet) and raised (like a Jet helmet), it can be used in either configuration and still comply with all current regulations. To prevent accidental closure, the chin guard has system which keeps it locked in the open position. The visor operating and ventilation buttons are rubberized. For additional safety, there are reflective inserts on the neck roll. The NUMO comes ready to work with the new SHARE integrated communication platform (sold separately).
