This chest protector is very comfortable. I forget I even have it on. Seems as though it will protect quite well for impact. I haven't hit the ground yet with this so I can't comment on how well it actually works, but from the way it fits and feels I think it will work great.

Wasn't sure when I first got it turned out to work well for liter protected the Chicago screws are of low quality put they sent replacements
This chest protector provides comfort and protection even while being low profile. You can wear this chest protector over or under your gear and it doesn't look bulky. The protector breathes nice and fits snug. It has a ton of adjustability that allows you customize the size to fit your body shape. I am 6' 1" and 135 pounds. The large fits me great.
I ride in the desert where the ridable temperatures are 30s to 90s. I wear this under my jersey over a breathable baselayer. I use a leatte neck brace and I have had the whole setup for 2 years. This chest protector is very good. I don't see that it would ever wear out but if it did I would by another. This is so breathable that you can feel the breeze on your chest and back when stopped.
It's worth every penny! Fits great with my Atlas neck brace. The chest protector is so comfortable that I forget I'm even wearing it! My son has borrowed it and keeps threatening to take it. I love how adjustable it is and the way it wraps around my sides too. I will not go back to my previous style chest protector and will probably buy another for my son.
This is actually my second purchase of this chest protector. The first one has lasted me several years and has only just started to wear out. I have been involved in numerous crashes and this protector has held up beautifully.
It's very flexible and the venting keeps me much cooler than other protectors. I'd recommend this to anyone that wants a durable protector that stands up to abuse and is also very comfortable to wear.
I've got a few rides under my belt with this chest protector and there's a couple things I really liked and disliked about it. Since it's supposed to function as both under and over the jersey, I'll review it under both contexts.
OVER: The CP5955 fits awesome over the jersey, staying just where you want it, and protecting the right parts of your body with an effective hard plastic. It hugs the body tightly, but doesn't restrict movement or feel stifling at all. It gives me the sense of security that I like from wearing chest pro, but doesn't feel bulky or in-the-way. In fact, I hardly noticed it was there while riding. Even the gnarliest 450 roost was handled perfectly by the CP, and the bicep protection worked better than my old Fox Airframe.
It worked great with my kidney belt, making my whole torso feel well-protected. I don't wear a neck brace, but it seems to be designed with them in mind, it even has a little arrow on the plastic where you can fit them.
UNDER: Getting a jersey on over the CP5955 is a little tricky. It wants to hang up on the edges of the plastic, so it can be a little annoying to put on by yourself. If you have a buddy who can help pull down the back it's a lot easier. While riding in the warm weather the under-jersey option feels stifling. It doesn't allow your body to breathe, and becomes a bit uncomfortable after a few laps. In cold weather it's fine, but when you're done riding it's a little uncomfortable, and obviously you need to take off the jersey to remove it. This is annoying for both the fact that you have to go through that trouble, but also because putting the jersey back on over it is a bit of a pain.
Now, aside from the stifling hot-weather and the trick of putting on the jersey, it works great under the jersey. It doesn't look bulky or unnatural, and provides all the protection of an actual chest protector (unlike those cheesy foam "vests" that don't do jack). If I was doing a long pro-moto or something where I wanted to look as professional and clean as possible, I would probably choose the under-jersey option. But for practice riding it just seems impractical.
The CP5955 also comes with a little kit of extra bolts and a tool to use on them. This way you can replace ones that fall out, and remove parts of the chest pro you don't like. I didn't see a need to remove any of the pieces, but you can remove the back, the lower back, and the upper arm-pads.
This chest protector is top notch. And should be for the price. The first time I put it on I felt secure. This thing fits like a glove and is well made. It has plenty of adjustability for just about any fit that you would like. Very highly recommended
This is so much more than a chest protector. It provides excellent chest, back, and shoulder protection. It also provides protection around the sides of the ribs.
My first weekend wearing the Shock Doctor, I went over the bars and the bike crashed down on top of me. I still finished that moto and 3 more for the weekend with no problems and I am nearly 40!
The price is long forgotten when the quality remains. This is an awesome piece of gear. Not gonna lie, it hurts the pocket a little shelling out 2 notes for it. but it's worth every penny. offers great shoulder protection. its probably the heaviest of all chest protectors but it fits so well that its barely noticeable when riding. pay for what you get.
