Great product, great quality wish it came in black

The 47t sprocket only came in gold, wish it came in black, other than that I'm very happy with the quality, fit, finish, and performance. Hope they last a while. Got 9500mi out of my stock set, hope to get that out of these.

Great style and durability

I installed this kit before a 10 day riding trip We rode everything from highway to black diamond single track. We rode well over a thousand miles and the sprockets still look brand new and I have not needed to adjust the chain yet.

Fantastic products, very pleased!

I am very pleased with this package. Shipping was fast, packaging was good. These sprockets are top notch, the quality is amazing. And the chain (DID VX2 xring) is fantastic. Its just a little bit louder than my old oring chain but who cares. This kit went on my 2015 Suzuki DRZ400s, i went with a 15/45 setup and i'm very pleased with it thus far. Would recommend and would absolutely buy again!

The only thing i believe could be done, is add another selection to this kit, so that a rivet style master link can be added. I forgot to get on with this kit and had to order it the next day

Just buy it

this isn't the lightest sprocket you can buy but it will last longer then anything rental will ever make. spend the money on this sprocket I've gotten around 70 hrs of ride time before the teeth started to wave on me.

Looks great

The orange aluminum with the steel ring just looks cool. Also you just know that the hardened steel teeth are going to last forever.

What chain would you recommend for a 2001 Honda XR650R for mostly street and single track riding?

A: I personally run and recommend the D.I.D 520 ERT2 Gold Chain. If you are looking for a sealed chain I would recommend the D.I.D 520 ERV3 X-Ring Chain.

Q: Chains?

A: The DZ2 and the ERT2 are both standard non o-ring chains.

D.I.D 520 ERT2 Gold Chain - 120 Links:

The D.I.D ERT2 chain is the most trusted chain in Supercross and motocross racing because of its reputation of meeting the high quality demands that are required when pushing the limits. It was designed with the intention of making a chain that is optimized for the purpose of racing. D.I.D beefed up the ERT2 chain by increasing the pin size by 3% to give the chain an average tensile strength of 8,100 pounds. Increasing the strength of the ERT2 chain did not come with a sacrifice of weight, in fact DID was able to shed 5% from the previous ERT chain.

Exclusively designed for motorcycle racing.
High-performance, lightweight and low friction chain.
3% bigger pin diameter and 5% lighter than former ERT.
Provides the highest wear resistance, tensile strength and impact resistance.
Average tensile strength of 8,100 pounds.
Wear life index: 430.
Rated for up to a 450cc motocross bike.
Weight (per 100 links): 2.99 pounds.
Includes a clip-style master link.
120 links.
Notes: ERT and ERT2 Connecting Links are not interchangeable. Non-sealed chains require more regular maintenance than sealed (O-ring, X-ring) versions and are mainly recommended for off-road use.

D.I.D 520 DZ2 Chain - 120 Links:

The All New D.I.D 520DZ2 is the best value in a lightweight, high-performance chain designed for motocross racing.

Great value in a lightweight chain.
Designed for off-road riding and motocross.
The DZ2 has twice the lifespan of the previous DZ.
SDH pin treatment - hard chromium-carbide layer formed on pin surface for exceptional strength and wear resistance.
Flexible inner soft core absorbs shock.
For entry level motocross, trial riding at an affordable price.
Average tensile strength of 7,870 pounds.
Wear life index: 410.
Rated for up to a 450cc motocross bike.
Weight (per 100 links): 3.08 pounds.
Includes a clip-style master link.
Gold finish, 120 links.
Notes: DZ and DZ2 Connecting Links are not interchangeable. Non-sealed chains require more regular maintenance than sealed (O-ring, X-ring) versions and are mainly recommended for off-road use.

Q: Sprocket and chain life
So these are supposed to last a long time. So if they outlast your chain and you need a new chain but the sprockets are ok what do you do because arnt you always supposed to change them all together or they won't fit correctly and destroy eachother

A: If your chain wears out and your sprockets are not showing signs of wear and are still in good condition you can replace the chain only. If a new chain is fitted with old, worn sprockets or vise versa that will cause the rapid wear. Feel free to give us a call at 888-676-8853 and we would be happy to help you out with your order.

Q: Sprocket tooth ratio
I am considering going up a 1 tooth on my front sprocket to make my gears longer. Do I have to compensate on my rear as well and chain?
MotoSportExpert
Expert MotoSport Staff
A: Going up in the front and/or down in the rear will give you more top speed. Down in the front and up in the back will add more bottom. You can add a tooth in the front without making changes to the rear sprocket and generally there will be enough chain adjustment at the rear wheel to compensate for the larger sprocket but you will need to check. If you decide to go with a kit (sprockets and chain) the chain will come in bulk length 120 links. Once you have installed your new sprockets you will then install your chain and cut to fit.
Also, feel free to give us a call at 888-676-8853 and we would be happy to help you out with your order.

Q: So the stock chain for my 2001 yz125 is 112 links, and the did ert2 chain in this kit comes with 120. Would I have to remove links?

A: Yes. You can just grind the rivets off with an angle grinder.

My bike called for a 120 link chain, but at 120 links i'd have no future adjustment, so i took 5 links out of it and now i have almost a full range of adjustment. :)

Q: What size of pocket and chain do you recommend for me fits perfectly with xr650r 2004 I need it for wheelies

A: Adding more teeth to the rear sprocket or using a smaller front sprocket (or both) would give you a lower gear ratio for more low end power right off the bottom.
