I tried breaking one link on a brand new chain with this brand new tool. I snapped all three break pins by hand with very minimal force. Save your money for a higher quality tool. I'm hoping motosport makes it right.

This product worked for me as a one time use. The second time using the riveting pin snapped trying to reach spec rivet mushroom diameter. I recommend this product but buy extra parts for it as the cast steel is simply that and not forged steel and therefore more susceptible to breaking. This is not uncommon with tools of today, i.e. cast wrenches are common place and therefore I don't fault motionpro as they are in a competitive marketplace.
Don't spend money on more expensive chain tools, this one is all you need.
Easy to use. Good price. If you don't have you need one. Makes chain installation and sizing a breeze.
Got this to press, install , a DID VX2 chain with rivit style masterlink.
Press part of the tool worked excellent! Tool seemed to be good quality.
Then i went to rivit the hollow nose masterlink.
Ive read about the pins sheading, so i was very carefull and worked slow.
First one went fine, then part way into rivit #2.......CRACK!
Awwww! Pulled the tool off expecting the pin to be broken, but it was fine.
The anvil part had cracked! And it had also allowed the masterlink pin to be pushed back a bit. Kinda like a chain breaker. And, YES i had the rivit pin in it, NOT the chain breaker pin.
And i see the anvil part is not sold seperatly like the pins are.
The anvil was a cast part, not forged which seemed kinda cheesy.
This would be good for smaller or more light duty chains, but not for heavy duty stuff.
Ordered the better rated BPR tool and another masterlink to try again.
Disapointed with this one.
Great tool ...never had any problems with any of the M/P product line.I had this tool before and it always worked well unfortunately my track side tool box was stolen( not at the track but at a Denny's I stopped at to grab something to eat ...stole my boots out of the back of truck ,too) and this is one item of many that needed replacement.
I had bought this to use on my first chain replacement and I am glad I did, it worked great. there seems to be a long life in this product if taken care of properly. I even think that I might be able to combine this with other MP accessories to broaden the use of this tool.
I bought this in lieu of paying the local shop an hour of labor to change my chain. I checked a couple YouTube vid's to make sure I understood it's use and presto chang-o! It worked great!
Instructions come with the tool on how to use it which was surprising to me. Followed the instructions and had no issues and the tool worked like it was suppose to.

Question:Q: Will it break a 520 chain pin and push the chain pin right through?Question asked Over 6 years ago
Question answered by MotoSportExpertUser's contributor status: MotoSport StaffQuestion answered Over 6 years agoAnswer: A: Yes, this will have no problem breaking a 520 chain properly.
Question answered by Nick365User's contributor status:Question answered Over 6 years agoAnswer: A: That is the main reason i bought this item, it will work on 520 chains and push the pin all the way through. it works on 0-ring chains as well.
Question answered by NateDawgUser's contributor status:Question answered Over 6 years agoAnswer: A: It broke a 520 chain for me, but I did first grind the pin down on the side I was going to push it through from to avoid any unnecessary work on the tool. I believe that if you cant grind it down it would still work fine, I just haven't tried that yet.
