No Difference

This is not much different from what comes with the exhaust in sound.

Really makes a difference.

I was skeptical about what this would do but throughly surprised at the result. I love the style of M4 GP, but out of the box it’s ear ringing loud after a 20 min ride. This baffle makes it tolerable. It is a PITA to install. The snap ring is incredibly tight within its pocket. Do your self a favor and order some heavy duty snap ring pliers along with this. I bought Channel Lock 927’s and it made the difference. I scratched up the pipe using my old set but it was entirely my fault.

Does a great job but...

This optional baffle does a good job of quieting down the excessively loud (for the street) m4 slip on compared to the factory installed baffle. It's a bit pricey, which is the reason i took a star off. otherwise I highly recommend this baffle, and if you wear ear plugs while riding it gives you the quality sound that won't annoy you.

Decent but worth it

It lowers the noise level by about 5dB which is noticeable but not much. I have a cat delete and I wanted to keep the tone but lower the dB a little and this did the trick. You need small needle nose pliers to insert/remove the retaining ring. Retaining ring pliers won’t suffice. There is no rattle or vibration, it sits in tight.

Nice and quiet

First, I LOVE the sound of the unrestricted GP exhaust on my Honda 919. For long trips, though, it becomes quite fatiguing even with ear plugs/buds and a full faced helmet. With the insert in at highway/interstate speeds I can barely hear the exhaust over wind noise. Long rides are much more enjoyable.

Don’t get me wrong I like a good sounding loud exhaust as much as the next cat, with this insert you have the best of both worlds. (I’ve had it in and out several times.) It will take you longer to walk to your tool box to find your big snap ring pliers than it will to actually install/remove the insert. On that note you do need some pretty good sized snap ring pliers.

Answer: Based on the information I found on M4's website the exhaust comes with a Q5 insert and would require a Q4 to go quieter.
