What Our Gearhead Experts Are Saying:

"The Foamy is the pad I recommend when someone tells me they just can't sleep well camping. Two layers of memory foam at nearly four inches thick does something that inflatable pads and closed-cell foam simply can't it actually contours to your body and holds its shape through the night. The R-value of 8.8 makes it legit cold-weather gear too, not just a warm-weather luxury. The linking clips are a nice touch if you want to connect two for a wider sleep surface, and the machine-washable cover is the kind of practical detail that matters after a muddy weekend."

There's a version of camping where the gear handles itself and the sleep is actually good. Helinox's Foamy Mattress starts with two layers of memory foam nearly four inches thick the kind that distributes weight, relieves pressure points, and holds its temperature through the night without asking anything of you in return.

The water-resistant cover keeps the foam protected from dew and ground moisture, and when the trip is over it goes straight into the washing machine. An integrated compression harness cinches it down for transport without requiring a separate stuff sack, and linking clips on the sides connect two units for a wider sleep surface when the situation calls for it. A small stash pocket keeps a phone or keys within reach in the dark. At an R-value of 8.8 it handles cold ground well, and with dimensions running up to 30 x 78 inches in the wide size, it fits most sleepers without compromise. It lives in the back of the vehicle until you need it, and once you've slept on it, everything else feels like a step down.
