The Garmin Edge Touring is designed for the rider who cares less about heart rates than they do about where they're headed. It'll offer 17 hours of turn-by-turn navigation, but it's not going to tell you how many beats per minute you're up to on that climb.
You can search for a destination within the Edge Touring, without using a computer ahead of time. The microSD card is preloaded with bike-ready maps, and will route you through paths, back roads, and scenic detours if you tell it to do so. The display is a nice, large 1.4 x 2.2 inches, and it's easy to see in almost any kind of light (or lack thereof).
Please note that the Edge Touring is not compatible with heart rate monitors or powermeters.
