Excellent boot!!!

Excellent comfortable boots. Love the flex ankle when walking or pushing bike. Boots are well made but a bit on the heavy side compared to other boots. Toe area is slightly larger outside of boot giving a different feel under the gear shifter, previous boots had thinner material on top of foot/toe. Huge plus is the durability of the sole and grip on foot pegs! I’m starting a 1986 CR500 and have worn out the right boot sole on previous 3x pairs of boots. These are holding up great and are soft enough to grab the foot peg teeth without getting thrashed.

Great boots

All of my friends wear Gaerne’s and swear by them, so I borrowed a pair from a friend and was so impressed with the comfort and mobility, I had to get a pair.

Best upgrade yet!

Replaced an older model with out the ankle hinge with this newer design. Easier to shift, brake and walk in. I have wide feet and these work well. I did have to "adjust" one boot after finding that it had been crushed down during storage/shipping? I used a heat gun to soften the boot around the top of my foot, and then used a blood pressure cuff inside the boot to expand it. Worked like a charm. Raced in them the next day. Good lateral stiffness, I feel like the boot will last a little longer than the last pair of GX-1's

Hello Lover!

Impressive. Most impressive. Of all the new gear I bought to hop into dirt, my Gaerne SG-10's were by far the best choice I made. Quality is beyond what I could have imagined and even the girls on McDougal get jealous when I pimp these bad boys! hahaha Seriously, killer boots man. They go great with any cardigan.

Great!! Super Comfortable

Great Boots. I have a wide foot and have trouble with other boots. I heard Gaerne ran wide. I usually wear 9 1/2 to 10 in other shoes/boots. I also heard Gaernes ran a little big so i ordered size 9 and they are perfect. Very comfortable. First time using them they felt like they were already broken in. I ended up walking quite a bit in the boots and there was no rubbing or problems. Great! Don't see why I would ever need to go to another boot. I'm sold on Gaernes.

Gaerne SG10

I’ve used Gaerne for the last 3 pairs. Ever since I had an epic crash where my bike crushed my ankle I have been trusting these SG10s to protect my feet. Great protection and they will take care of your feet if I take care of them. Good grip for Hard Enduro and requires no Break in. Best bang for your buck,!

Awesome Boot

These SG10's are my first fully-hinged boot and all I can say is wow, the level of comfort right out of the box is far superior than the Tech 3's I've been buying and wearing for years. As with any new boot, it will take a little bit of time to break in. For me, it only took about 3 10-15 minute practice sessions at the track. Expect a couple of missed shifts while they are still breaking in.

I wear a size 12 street shoe so I ordered a size 12 of these, and they almost fit perfectly. I almost went to an 11 as they were a little too big, but I was afraid the top buckle wouldn't close with my knee braces on, as they are already hard to do in a size 12. This is really the only drawback to the boot. I have big calves, but am still able to fit my knee braces into my boots and buckle them. It takes some finessing, but I can do it.

Overall, you cannot go wrong with these boots. Will definitely be buying again.

Nice for a wide foot

I have block-like Barney Rubble feet, and tried the Tech-7 boots which are supposed to run wide. They were a tad too narrow for me, but these fit the bill nicely and also appear to be of higher quality than the AS boots I tried. No cramping on the side of my foot!! Highly recommended, and for the slightly higher price they were well worth it to be comfortable. They have a nice hinge at the ankle and breakin was really easy.

Q: I have tech 7 now and my feet slip of the pegs occasionally, I believe due to the sole compound outside the insert area. Are the sg 10 as prone to this as the tech 7?

A: I've never owned the Alpinestars Tech-7 boots so I can't comment from a place of experience with your boots. That said, I can say with confidence that I've never felt/found the Gaerne SG-10 boots to be prone to slipping off of my pegs. Having owned and ridden Gaerne SG-10's for more than 7 years now, I cannot say enough good things about these boots. They're comfortable, durable, and they offer phenomenal ankle, leg and foot protection and support.

A: I bought the SG10s earlier this summer and rode with them at least 30 hours. I never noticed them slipping off the foot pegs. They are the most comfortable I've had and would buy them again. Very sturdy and easy to walk in.

A: Gaining control and feel through the foot pegs is high priority and Gaerne installed a dual compound sole on the SG10 boots to accomplish that.
Gaerne's "Grip Guard" inner panel is incorporated into the Razorback system that creates a high friction contact point between you and your bike for quality control while protecting against heat and abrasion.

Q: How much do a size 13 Gaerne SG-10 weight in lbs.& oz's. I heard these are heaver than most other brands. What compared weight to other brands?
I am looking for a light weight flex boot where I can ride woods type Hair Scrambles & feel shift & brake levers What would you suggest brand & weight? I also use knee braces. How come mfg. don't inc. weight? How do I find weight of various boots w/out ordering them & weighting them at home?

A: Feel at the controls is moderate I would say, comparable to the Tech 7s. You will not have as much feel as with the SG12 or some other low profile boots but for a hinged flex boot this would be your best choice and is a great boot in my opinion. As for the weight unfortunately most manufactures do not provide the weight. I checked with Gaerne and they did not have an exact weight but said around 11lbs. Our scale shows 10.5lbs for a pair.

Q: Are the soles replaceable?
I have several pairs of boots that have good uppers but the soles are worn through. Are the soles replaceable? Can I do it myself or is a shoe smith required?

A: Yes, the soles are replaceable on the Gaerne SG-10 Boots. You will need to visit a cobbler near you to have them re-soled. Once applied, the cobbler will fit the sole properly with your boot.

A: You'll want to go with a 9 if you have a narrow foot, or a 10 if you have a wide or flat foot. These boots run a little large.

A: Since Gaerne does not offer half sizes so I would say you would want to go with a size 11. If the size 11 feels a bit too large I would recommend adding another insole in the boot to help tighten them up for you.

I have a pair of size 11 O neal elements and my foot touches the end. I am wondering what size would i get in the gaerne sg10? I was thinking an 11 because people say they run big? Thanks for the help!

A: I had a pair of elements in size 12. I ordered the SG10s in 12 and they were way to big, sent them back and got an 11 and they are perfect. My toes touched the end in the elements as well.

Q: Are these good for a flat/wide foot?

I have flat and wide feet. Would these be more suitable for me than the Sidi Crossfires? I've heard that at least the toe box is wider on Gaerne, is that correct?

A: I couldn' give you a comparison with the sidi's but i've worn the Tech-8's for years before switching to the SG10. The SG10 has a more relaxed fit than the tech-8's. Also, the SG10 accommodates wider calves. I have wide flat feet and would sometimes get sore arches with the tech-8, but with the SG10 i but in some custom footbeds for a little extra arch support and I've never had sore feet again. The Sidi's crossfire's seem to be really narrow in the toes and throughout the boot. but i've never rode with them.
