Way better then my alpine tech 1’s

Looking for a more supportive boot. This is definitely it. Was snug at first but a couple rides in and it broke in very well: the flex is amazing and was good from day 1. I bought the tech 7’s with these and returned those however they were more comfy in the soul but I could twist the whole boot with my hand which worried me about protection. I feel I made the right decision. I would recommend these.

Solid product.

Will buy again but will consider the narrower SG12 instead.

Great boots wish they were adjustable around ankle

The boots are great, they are pretty comfortable except in the ankle for me. I went to adjust the straps for the ankle but found they cant be adjusted. Not a huge deal because I can make adjustment holes myself but I wish they came standard. For $400, there's no reason they shouldn't already be on the boot. Especially since half the straps are already adjustable.

Best boots money can buy!

If you want comfort right out of the box and know you're ankles will be safe then spend the money and get Gaerne Sg10 or 12s. You will never look at another boot again when you wear these!

Love these boots!

I have a wide foot (EE) and was getting discouraged looking for a good quality boot made for wide feet. I read reviews for hours and settled on these Gaernes which I read ran wide. I couldn't have selected a more perfect boot. Fits great, very comfortable, and very good quality. These boots rock!!

Good form

Two rides with these boots with a noticeable difference in quality to other boots. They feel more like equipment with amazing ankle support. Easier to achieve proper riding form.

Comfortable around the calf.

I've only worn them once but so far they are great. Great snug fit around the calf and the rounded sole makes it easier to stand on the balls of my feet. Buckles seem durable yet easy to use. Also, plenty of room in the toe area. I wear a 12.5 and ordered the 13's.

Comfortable and well armored for WIDE feet!

Best boots hands down. I have 6E wide feet and these are the only boots that come close to being comfortable to me. I ordered a size too small by accident and a service representative instantly sent me the correct size and emailed me a free return label. is fantastic to work with.

Q: I wear a woman's size 9. What size boot do you recommend?
Top 10
A: I regret that we don't carry women's boots from Gaerne. We carry women's boots from Alpinestars, Fox Racing, O'Neal, Sidi, and Thor. These would be our best recommendations.

For fitting regular low-top shoes, a woman's US size 9 is equal to a men's US 7.5. However we very rarely recommend men's boots for women due to the fit at the calves.
Men's calves are higher on the leg than women's, and men's calves are typically above the tops of the boots. Men's boots have a smaller diameter fit at the top than women's boots.
Because women's calves are typically lower on the leg, women's boots have more space at the top than men's boots to accommodate the calves being inside the boots rather than above the boots.

You certainly may order the men's Gaerne boots to try them on.
Within the lower 48 states of the mainland US, all of our clothing, footwear, helmets and protective-gear qualify for our Free First Exchange program. If you need to exchange a brand new and unused item for another size or a similar product, we will cover all of the shipping expenses for both the return and the replacement.

A: There is an approximate 1.5-size difference between men's and women's sizing. This would be a mens 7.5 for a starting point. Since a half size is not available either 7 or 8 would be selected.
Q: What are the major differences between the SG-10's and SG-12's?

A: The Gaerne SG12 boots have the following features which the SG10 do not have:
> Gaiter: Made of a new Swiss breathable fabric called ACRONOS, the gaiter is extremely stretchy but has the perfect shape to keep the sand and debris out.
> Streamlined Toe-box for precision control. (the SG10 has more room in the toes)
> Dual Stage Pivot for more aggressive riders.
> The SG12 fits up to 22" at the calves. (The SG10 fits up to 21" at the calves.)
> Anti-shock composite sole for better connection to the pegs.
> Adjustable shin plate for more room around the calves.

Q: I have tech 7 now and my feet slip of the pegs occasionally, I believe due to the sole compound outside the insert area. Are the sg 10 as prone to this as the tech 7?
1 year 3 months ago

1 year 3 months ago
A: Gaining control and feel through the foot pegs is high priority and Gaerne installed a dual compound sole on the SG10 boots to accomplish that.
Gaerne's "Grip Guard" inner panel is incorporated into the Razorback system that creates a high friction contact point between you and your bike for quality control while protecting against heat and abrasion.

A: I've never owned the Alpinestars Tech-7 boots so I can't comment from a place of experience with your boots. That said, I can say with confidence that I've never felt/found the Gaerne SG-10 boots to be prone to slipping off of my pegs. Having owned and ridden Gaerne SG-10's for more than 7 years now, I cannot say enough good things about these boots. They're comfortable, durable, and they offer phenomenal ankle, leg and foot protection and support.

A: I bought the SG10s earlier this summer and rode with them at least 30 hours. I never noticed them slipping off the foot pegs. They are the most comfortable I've had and would buy them again. Very sturdy and easy to walk in.
Q: How much do a size 13 Gaerne SG-10 weight in lbs.& oz's. I heard these are heaver than most other brands. What compared weight to other brands?
I am looking for a light weight flex boot where I can ride woods type Hair Scrambles & feel shift & brake levers What would you suggest brand & weight? I also use knee braces. How come mfg. don't inc. weight? How do I find weight of various boots w/out ordering them & weighting them at home?
Expert MotoSport Staff
A: Feel at the controls is moderate I would say, comparable to the Tech 7s. You will not have as much feel as with the SG12 or some other low profile boots but for a hinged flex boot this would be your best choice and is a great boot in my opinion. As for the weight unfortunately most manufactures do not provide the weight. I checked with Gaerne and they did not have an exact weight but said around 11lbs. Our scale shows 10.5lbs for a pair.
Q: Are the soles replaceable?
I have several pairs of boots that have good uppers but the soles are worn through. Are the soles replaceable? Can I do it myself or is a shoe smith required?
Expert MotoSport Staff
A: Yes, the soles are replaceable on the Gaerne SG-10 Boots. You will need to visit a cobbler near you to have them re-soled. Once applied, the cobbler will fit the sole properly with your boot.
Q: What size to buy?
I wear a 10 1/2 . what size in the sg 10 or sg 12 should i get for best fit.
A: Size 10
Expert MotoSport Staff
A: Since Gaerne does not offer half sizes so I would say you would want to go with a size 11. If the size 11 feels a bit too large I would recommend adding another insole in the boot to help tighten them up for you.
A: You'll want to go with a 9 if you have a narrow foot, or a 10 if you have a wide or flat foot. These boots run a little large.
Q: What is the circumference of the calf of these boots in an actual measurement? "large" is the most frustrating answer...
A: The boots have 3 adjustable leg straps to fit thin to larger calves

A: The circumference of the boot is adjustable. We dont have an exact measurement but they can fit a person with up to 19" calves.
Q: Size

I have a pair of size 11 O neal elements and my foot touches the end. I am wondering what size would i get in the gaerne sg10? I was thinking an 11 because people say they run big? Thanks for the help!
A: I had a pair of elements in size 12. I ordered the SG10s in 12 and they were way to big, sent them back and got an 11 and they are perfect. My toes touched the end in the elements as well.

A: My son wears a 12 in all shoes. The 12s fit perfect in the boot

A: I would stick with the size 11 in the Gaernes. If for any reason the sizing seems off for you we have a very easy return/ exchange program.
