Q: '09 Yamaha Stratoliner S comes with 190/60/R17 for the rear.Would you recommend 200/60/R17 as a replacement? I know 200/55/R17 is another option, but I would rather go a bit faster than slower. Also what impact would have on the handling? Thanks.

A: You're right. The original rear tire on the 2009 Yamaha Stratoliner 1900 S XV19CTS is 190/60-17. This is what the engineers and designers at Yamaha tested to perform best for most riders in most conditions, and what will be our first and best recommendation.

The Bridgestone Exedra Max Radial Rear Tire is not available in 190/60-17. The 200/60R-17 will fit on your rear rim. The 190/60-17 is 190mm wide, and the 200/60R-17 is 200mm wide. The top of the 200/60R-17 is 6mm closer to the inside of the fender, and raises the rear end 6mm higher. You will have to measure your fender and swingarm to determine if there is space enough for the larger tire.
The 200/55R-17 is 4mm lower than the 190/60-17.

The 200/60R-17 is not any faster than the 190/60-17, however the wider tire provides better stability at high speeds while riding in a straight line, which is a benefit in drag racing for example. The wider tire also requires more effort to lean into turns.

A: The Bridgestone Exedra Max Radial Rear Tire is available in the 200/60-16, and also in a front size 130/70-18.
The original tire sizes on the 2016 F6B Goldwing are 130/70/18 in front and 180/60-16 in the rear. These are the sizes which Honda tested and found to be best for most riders in most conditions.
The 200mm wide rear tire will improve high speed stability in a straight line, however it will require more effort to lean into turns than the original 180mm width.
Bridgestone recommends the G709/704 Goldwing Tire Combo for your F6B in the stock sizes, available at this link: https://www.motosport.com/bridgestone-g709704-goldwing-tire-combo
