The 2001 Honda CR125 continues the aluminum-frame CR125 platform introduced in 2000 with further development of the chassis and engine. The 2001 model refines the handling improvements of the aluminum-frame era while maintaining the strong, responsive power delivery of the 125cc two-stroke HPP engine. Whether ridden competitively or recreationally, the 2001 CR125 benefits from consistent, accurate fastener maintenance across all systems.
Wheels & Drivetrain
The aluminum-frame CR125 uses the same wheel hardware as the steel-frame models, but the aluminum swingarm and chassis require extra care to avoid thread damage when working on axle nuts and sprocket hardware.

Frame Bolt Thread Protection
On the 2001 CR125 aluminum frame, the engine mounting bolts and swingarm pivot thread into aluminum bosses. Over time, repeated removal and installation of these bolts can wear the threads in the aluminum housing. At each engine or swingarm removal, clean the threaded holes with a tap to remove debris, blow out with compressed air, and apply a thread lubricant or anti-seize to prevent galling. Torque to spec on clean, lightly lubricated threads—and reduce your applied torque value slightly to account for the reduced friction.
