Well made, sturdy should last me for longer than I'm going to be lacing wheels. Price was right.

BikeMaster Wheel Balancer and Truing Stand

I have never bought rims, hubs and spokes to lace new wheels. This product gave me the piece of mind that my wheels are working properly.

Very high quality.

I have not balanced any tires yet but i just put this thing together and man is it high quality. very heavy and seems like it will last forever. Defiantly a good investment.

Great for the garage

This is one of those purchases that will pay for its self the first time or 2 that you use it. Sturdy, heavy duty, great finish on it. The only thing that I would note is that using a dial indicator with a magnetic base would save alot of time and guesswork

Solid and Sturdy

I've only recently decided to start lacing my own wheels, so I can't say I've got a lot of experience with truing stands. That said, this stand is heavy-duty, holding my MX wheels securely while working.

I did have an issue with the adjustable bar seen attached to the right side of the stand in the photo. It's designed to slide both vertically and horizontally in order for the tip to be placed close to the rim (for measuring runout). Unfortunately, the horizontal adjustment has so much slop in it that I was unable to get the bar close to the rim. I ended up using a pencil in place of the supplied bar, and that worked surprisingly well.

Good Quality, Great Customer Service!

I'm a big do-it-yourself kind of guy so balancing my own wheels made sense. I searched around and only a few quality products are out there. You can spend a lot or a little, but I'm a big fan of spending a little more to get something high quality. I wasn't looking for portability so this balancer was perfect for me. The construction is high quality using heavy gauge steel for the stand and fully adjustable feet to ensure it is level. The bubble level also makes it easy to get right quickly.

The only issue I had with this unit was the shaft for balancing was not true. I checked it with a dial indicator and it was off by about 0.020" which wasn't good. It was noticeable with a wheel on the unit. I contacted BikeMaster and they stand behind their products. They apologized and sent me a replacement with no hassle.

I would give this a full 5 stars for fit, but I had a single-sided swingarm so I needed additional adapters to make the rear wheel work with this unit. Otherwise, this is yet another great quality product from BikeMaster!

A: The only time you would really need to true the wheel with the tire off is when you are building a wheel and have to adjust out the wheel hop. If you are just truing the wheel you won't need to take off the tire.

A: Have a look at the demonstration video on this product page, or view it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sls5k3FLWs4.

That should help explain the process of finding the proper weights to balance your wheel/tire.
