Experience told Arai that not all head shapes are created equal, so they designed the Vector helmet to match the Intermediate Oval (IO) shape. The IO shape is best suited for most people with dimensions greater front to back then side to side.
The shell of the Vector helmet features an Arai proprietary aerospace fiberglass technology called Complex Laminate Construction. This design keeps the helmet light and flexible.
Arai built the Vector helmet without cutting corners by adding the Hyper-Ridge Band and vent at the bottom to increase thickness and safety through durability.

A dual-pivot chin vent allows the Vector helmet to breathe and defog. Arai designed the two position dual-pivot hinge to pass air to the face at the first position, while the second position passes air to the faceshield for de-fogging. Arai incorporated an activated carbon-coated foam filter to ensure cleaner air.
Ventilation is performed through 3 intake vents at the top, forehead and chin, with 5 exhaust vents. Arai allows for each vent to be closed when braving cooler conditions.

Side pods remain on the Vector helmet, as well as their other helmets, for a greater purpose then a clean look. The side pods continue the round shape and eliminate flat spots that could be less effective at dissipating impact energy.
