Had these for a while, last weekend went down in a corner. Nothing crazy...the guard broke. The hinge ripped off. The knee cap is also soft. Left a good size lump on my knee cap. I also have the leatt ones..I've found them to be better. Harder protection. Just as comfortable.

Was expecting a really awesome, long lasting product from Alpinestars, but disappointed in how weak this product was! The mount that connects the strap to the guard sticks up about a quarter inch and the plastic where it connects to the guard in thin and flimsy. Anything that hits the upper mount will rip thru the plastic of the guard as shown in the picture. The lower mount is protected since it's inside the boot.
Seem like a pretty good knee guard. Feels like something in between a knee brace and knee guard. Sizing runs a bit small so keep that in mind. I’m 5’11” 250 lbs and the xxl was still a bit tight. Overall I’m really happy with them.
I have about 8 rides with these knee guards and find them very comfortable, they give good grip in the side of the bike as well. The problem I am having is with the bolts thru the side hinges. I noticed today after riding one of the side hinges is bulging out. The 2.5 allen bolts have a captured nut on the inside of the hinge and I am missing 1nut from each guard. I have always used Alpinestar boots (Tech 10's) and encourage our students at the dirt bike school to use Alpinestar boots as well because I feel they are safe, comfortable and highly durable. At this point I guess ill try to call Alpinestars and try to get some new hardware or run to Lowes and try to find some nuts to fit. Pretty disappointed that safety gear from the company I recommend has failed so quickly. Missing riding days because of safety gear failure is not cool! If I wasn't having this issue I would highly recommend these knee guards. Will update review after reaching out to find solution.
Its just foam over the knee cap. I know foam is popular in equipment these days for some reason but in a hare impact you could easily still break your knee in these SX-1 knee guard. Alpinestars should stick to boots, everything else they make is wack.
I’ve had multiple knee surgeries and wanted something a step above .
This are perfect .
I bought these for more knee protection than normal knee pads, these check all of the boxes. It’s my first time wearing knee protection on a dirtbike but quickly adjusting to them being there
Was looking for shin guard replacement. Didn’t want knee brace, and wanted CE rated protection. This brace was the last one I tried. Fits great, with knee brace socks you won’t have any issues. The tare set and forget adjustments, with the button clasp. adjust your straps and use the clips after that. They don’t take up too much room in the boot / shin area and feel great on the thigh. Lots of protection coupled with excellent fit and feel.
however, uppuer band is not comfortable
I bought these because I ride on very rocky hill climbs and cliffs and as far as protection goes there pretty good well made fit really good the only draw backs are that I couldnt really bend my knee very well to kick start my bike and the straps on the back dig into my legs and rub the skin raw other then that there great. A pair of knee sleves to go with will be well worth it
