5+ yrs n almost still a perfect fit..

Been a huge fan of AGV since the early 90's when I found their WeE helmet.. Very snug for a few rides then perfection.. This helmet after 5 yrs still fits very well.. The visor design is absolutely phenomenal.. No buffeting head at any speed, no trying to top head off while turning head at speed, big open viewing port.
Bought a new agv corsa racetrack in ML.. Got it today but way small.. Should have checked sizing chart better.. Need a Large.. (None available)
Thinking I'm gonna either just buy another
AX-8 or try the new bell MIPS helmet..

Initial 300 miles review

This is very preliminary impression of AGV AX-8 Dual EVO helmet. The helmet runs smaller than my Medium Arai XD-4. I initially order a Medium based on current helmet and measuring my head. However, the Medium was way too tight. I managed to find one of the last 2016 year models in size Large. I am somewhere between Medium and Large. I decided for the last year model clearance to keep the large.
Clearly there is a shell difference ( size ) between Medium and Large. I noticed the AGV has no ear cut out for speakers or earbuds. In general the area around the ears feels very snug for me. Hopefully overtime the foam will be compress down. For now I am using earbuds with my Sena S20 intercom. To mount the Sena, using the metal clamp plate, you need to first slip the inside plate between helmet outer shell and inside finish. The standard length screws that come with Sena works to clamp to parts down.
Initial ride with helmet made the beak vibrate bad. But I figured it had to do my my fairing on my F800GS and I had the helmet strap too tight. Pretty stable now.
The visibility of AGV is fantastic. Comfort is pretty descent except tight around ears.
Will try to post an update after I log a few thousand miles.

Great fitting, quality dual sport helmet that doesn't cost $600. I purchased this in an XL Size. Size and fit seem spot on. Only grip is the rubber wind deflector and chin warmer don't really stay in place. I don't bother with the chin warmer and just keep it off unless it's cold out. Both the pieces seem like afterthought additions. NBD, helmet is still awesome and probably wouldn't have missed the pieces had they not been included. Lens is nice and clear with minimal distortion.
All-in-all, very satisfied.

Back in the saddle

After years away from motorcycling I bought this helmet to go with a supermoto. The only issue I had with the helmet was that one screw for the visor won't come out. The thread insert in the helmet spins. The only suggestion I would have for the helmet is to add a quick release to the chin strap instead of d rings. Overall it is a great value. The motosport team offered great service when I had to exchange for a size up as I was between sizes.

Arai has some competition

Its been long considered that Arai has always had the best fit in the helmet market. This is my first AGV and I'd say Arai has some serious competition at nearly half the price. I measured a 22" which put me into a medium according to AGV's sizing chart. Out of the box the crown of the helmet fit me like a glove. My cheeks however were a bit cramped. AGV rep's assured me pads would break in as much as 30%. After two days of commuting with it I am 100% happy. My cheeks are much more comfortable with ever so slight pinching, enough to make me think this is a performance helmet not some cheap off brand. The venting is superb, I like the mouth piece vent with its sliding open/closure. Finally my biggest praise, there is minimal buffeting on the freeway, I can look to the side when changing lanes at speed without my head feeling like its going to be ripped from my body. AGV has a winner, they just earned their newest #1 fan.
