The 2018 Beta 300 RR Race Edition debuts on the redesigned chrome-moly steel frame, bringing a new chassis platform to the competition big-bore. The updated frame geometry, revised engine mounting positions, and improved rigidity change how the 300’s massive torque is managed by the chassis. The 300cc liquid-cooled two-stroke with electronic oil injection, power valve system, and six-speed gearbox continues as the most powerful enduro engine Beta produces. KYB 48mm fork and Sachs rear shock with race-tuned valving, ergal footpegs, and factory livery maintain the Race Edition distinction. The new frame means new load paths — familiar torque values apply to a fundamentally different chassis structure.

Engine Hardware

Fastener Torque (Nm) Torque (ft-lbs)
Spark Plug 25 18
Cylinder Head Nuts 40 30
Cylinder Base Nuts 30 22
Flywheel Nut 65 48
Clutch Hub Nut 65 48
Transmission Drain Plug 15 11
Power Valve Cover Bolts 10 7

Chassis & Suspension

The redesigned frame uses revised engine mount positions. Engine mount bolt torque remains 40 Nm, but the mount interfaces are different. Verify bolt condition and thread integrity at the new mount locations, particularly during the first season on the updated chassis.

Fastener Torque (Nm) Torque (ft-lbs)
Swingarm Pivot Bolt 70 52
Lower Triple Clamp Pinch Bolts 12 9
Upper Triple Clamp Pinch Bolts 20 15
Handlebar Clamp Bolts 15 11
Shock Upper Mount 50 37
Shock Lower Mount 50 37
Linkage Bolts 40 30
Subframe Bolts 25 18
Engine Mount Bolts 40 30

Drivetrain & Wheels

Fastener Torque (Nm) Torque (ft-lbs)
Front Axle Nut 50 37
Rear Axle Nut 100 74
Front Sprocket Bolt 50 37
Rear Sprocket Nuts 30 22
Chain Adjuster Lock Nuts 18 13

Brakes

Fastener Torque (Nm) Torque (ft-lbs)
Front Caliper Bolts 30 22
Rear Caliper Bolts 25 18
Front Disc Bolts 10 7
Rear Disc Bolts 10 7
Front Master Cylinder Clamp 10 7
Rear Master Cylinder Mount 10 7

Dry vs. Wet Torque

Dry torque is the standard. The 300 Race’s 40 Nm head spec is the most sensitive in the range. Wet conditions produce nearly 50 Nm of effective clamping. Reduce 15–20% when compound is present.

New Chassis, Proven Engine

The redesigned frame distributes the 300’s forces through different load paths than the previous chassis. During the first season, verify engine mount, swingarm pivot, and linkage torque more frequently to establish confidence in the new structure under competition loading. Once validated through a full season, the new chassis will settle into a predictable pattern — but the first year demands extra vigilance with the most powerful engine in the range.

Thread Locker Recommendations

Medium-strength (blue) thread locker for the 2018 Beta 300 RR Race:

  • Rear sprocket nuts
  • All disc bolts
  • Linkage bolts
  • Subframe bolts
  • Exhaust mount hardware
  • Skid plate bolts
  • Power valve cover bolts

Torque Wrench Selection

A 3/8-inch drive click-type for 15–100 Nm and a 1/4-inch drive for 10 Nm hardware. Two drive sizes for the new-chassis 300cc Race Edition.
