    • Use the 8mm socket to remove the coolant drain screw from the bottom edge of the water pump cover.
    • Allow the coolant to drain completely.
  4. Inspect Drain Bolt and Seal: Check the drain bolt and its sealing washer for wear or damage. Replace the washer if necessary for optimal sealing during reinstallation.
  5. Reinstall Drain Bolt:
    • Reinstall the drain screw and torque it to 10 Nm (7.4 lbf ft) as specified for KTM water pump cover bolts.
  6. Add New Coolant:
    • Using a funnel, slowly pour the fresh coolant into the radiator until it reaches the bottom of the radiator filler neck.
  7. Bleed Air from the System:
    • On KTM 250SXF models, air can become trapped in the cooling system. To bleed the system:
    • Locate the small bleeder screw on the cylinder head or top of the radiator (consult your owner's manual for exact location).
    • Loosen the screw until air bubbles escape and coolant flows in a steady stream, then tighten the screw to the factory spec.
  8. Top Off and Secure:
    • Check the coolant level again and add more if needed—the fluid should remain at the bottom of the radiator filler neck when upright.
    • Replace the radiator cap securely.
  9. Check for Leaks: Wipe down any spills and start the engine, letting it run for a couple of minutes while monitoring for leaks around the drain bolt or radiator cap.
  10. Reinstall Plastics and Seat: Once satisfied, reinstall any removed panels and the seat.
