How to Change the Coolant in a 2017 Honda CRF250L RALLY ABS

Step-by-Step Coolant Change Guide

- On the left radiator side, remove the top 5mm Allen screw from the shroud.
- On the right, remove 4 screws and 2 plastic retainers to access the reservoir and radiator cap.
- Remove the radiator cap using a Phillips screwdriver to undo the retaining screw, then twist off the cap.
- Drain the coolant:
- Place a drain pan under the bike. The primary coolant drain bolt is on the lower right side of the engine or water pump area8mm or 10mm socket required. Remove it; coolant will begin to flow out.
- Remove the radiator cap and reservoir cap for faster draining and fuller evacuation.
- Replace the crush washer on the drain bolt before reinstalling to prevent leaks.
- Tighten the drain bolt snugly but do not overtighten, as Honda drain plugs are delicate.
- Refill with coolant:
- Slowly add new pre-mixed coolant through the top radiator neck using a funnel, filling until it is level with the bottom of the neck.
- Fill the reservoir to the specified "Full" line as well.
- Reinstall the radiator and reservoir caps securely.
- Reassemble all body and skid plate panels in reverse order.
