Changing the coolant on your 2011 Husqvarna TC449 is a must-do maintenance task that keeps your engine running cool and maximizes performance and longevity. The TC449's design is unique with its rearward-angled engine and signature cooling circuit – this means careful attention to air removal and fluid levels for optimal results.

Supplies You Will Need:

  • Fresh, high-quality motorcycle coolant (silicate-free, aluminum-safe)
  • Large catch pan
  • Socket and screwdriver set
  • Shop rags
  • Funnel

Step 1: Prep the Bike

  • Start with the bike cool to the touch. Make sure it is on a secure stand.

Step 5: Add New Coolant

  • Using a funnel, slowly pour new coolant into the radiator neck. Fill to the base of the filler neck. Add coolant to the reservoir tank up to the "Full" line if equipped.

Step 6: Remove Air from the System

  • With the radiator cap still off, gently rock the bike side to side and squeeze radiator hoses to help dislodge any trapped air.
  • Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes to circulate coolant (monitor temperature—do not let it overheat). As the coolant level drops, top up as needed.
  • Once bubbles stop appearing, shut off the engine and allow it to cool completely. Recheck coolant levels in both radiator and reservoir, topping up as required .

Step 7: Final Assembly

  • Reinstall the radiator cap securely and refit shrouds and seat.
  • Clean any spilled coolant immediately, as it is slippery and toxic to animals.
