The 2017 Beta 390 RR-S launches a new mid-displacement option in Beta’s dual-sport lineup. The 389cc liquid-cooled DOHC four-valve single with electronic fuel injection and six-speed gearbox pairs with DOT-compliant lighting, mirrors, horn, and turn signals for street legality. The 390 RR-S shares the new chrome-moly steel frame, KYB 48mm fork, and Sachs rear shock with the enduro model but features softer suspension settings for mixed trail and road use. The extra torque from the 390’s displacement over the 350 makes the dual-sport more capable on highway stretches and steep fire roads — the additional power is particularly welcome when carrying the weight of street equipment.

Dry vs. Wet Torque
Oil drain plug: always wet; reduce 15–20% with sealant. All other values assume dry threads.
Dual-Sport Loading Patterns
The 390 RR-S faces a unique combination of loading: highway vibration from extended pavement transit, followed by trail impacts and technical riding. Road use generates sustained high-frequency vibration that loosens fasteners differently than trail impacts. The 390’s mid-displacement engine provides enough vibration at highway RPM to affect mirror mounts, lighting brackets, and other street equipment. Check DOT equipment mounting hardware alongside standard chassis verification after mixed road and trail rides.
Thread Locker Recommendations
