Great sound, not so great quality

Sound is great, very loud, with or without baffle, if you ride long distances can be tiring.
Extremely hot on the leg, had to wrap the pipes and still really really hot, melted all my rain gears.

Great sound, Questionalble quality

Just to make it clear I did read the description on these pipes, particularly the note on discoloration. I bought them anyway. I love the sound, loud and deep. The fit was pretty good, the front pipe is well positioned, the rear not so much. The bend coming out of the rear cylinder extends a bit too much so that when you plant your right foot your inside thigh rests right on top of the pipe. I thought my leg was burning the first time I put my foot down at a stop light. Now I only plant my left leg and keep my right foot up on the foot peg. The discoloration, although I understand it happens, was far more dramatic than I anticipated. The search was on for heat shields, after weeks of searching, trial and error, returning a majority of them because they just didn't fit I did find a couple that would work but not for the rear pipe, which as stated above was the problem child. What I can say is that they are still on my bike and the heat shields cover most of the discoloration. Not a repeat buyer from this manufacturer.

Heat shields cover most of the discoloration. Not ideal.
Discoloration is substantial

Love them great sound

I purchased the pipes wanting something louder and not so huge. They sounded good with the baffles but i love loud with the baffles out that's what it is.I have gotten so many complements on the sound and looks. Very good for the price would recommended to anyone that wants a inexpensive set of pipes that sound great.

Q: Make the fat stakkers a little quieter?
2 years 4 months ago
Is there an easy way to make them just a little quieter, I know this may sound a little strange, but even with the baffles in they are a bit of a cop magnet, just wondering if they can be packed with s/s muffler packing?

A: Hello, you can tone them down a little. You will need remove the set screws holding the End Caps in place. Once removed you will then need to use something with a Hook on it to remove both the end caps and the baffles. Once removed you can then add Glas-Pak to the out side of the baffles. Remember not to add too much as you have to re-install the baffles back into the pipes. Once you have wrapped the baffles in Glas-pak you can then reinstall them. make sure that you get the threads in the end cap lined up with the whole in the pipes as good as you can as adjusting the end cap is hard once installed. DO NOT use a pair of channel locks to remove or turn the baffles as this will damage the end caps. Last when reinstalling the set screws use Red Loc-Tite. This will bring down the over all level of the exhaust by a few DB (2-4DB).

A: Just be sure to correctly select the Year/Make/Model of your bike before ordering so we can be sure to send you the correct exhaust for your bike. All aftermarket exhaust will have a slight different sound and are louder than the OEM exhaust. You will have to buy a jet kit made for the bike and it will include the parts for both carburetors on your Honda VT1100. Also, feel free to give us a call at 888-676-8853 and we would be happy to help you out with your order.

A: You are not required to by anything additional after buying the exhaust system to fit it to your bike. Keep in mind though that it may need to be a re-jetted to compensate for the reduced back pressure. The easiest way to do this is to purchase a jet kit. The only other thing that may be a good idea would be to purchase a new set of exhaust gaskets to ensure these seal properly against the head when installing. These do include removable baffles which act as the muffler in this exhaust system.
