The Regent-X is a brand-new helmet from Arai. It has a fresh, aggressive style unique in the range and is designed to welcome riders to the Arai family with the plush comfort, protection and features expected of the brand but also something else - easy access on and off.
Like every Arai, the Regent-X uses a strong outer shell designed to glance off impact forces, while maintaining integrity, working with a softer one-piece multi-density EPS inner liner to absorb and spread impact energy. It's designed around the Variable Axis System (VAS) for a smoother shape plus reinforcing Hyper Ridge that lowers the center of gravity and flares out 5 mm to make putting it on or off easier.
It's equipped with dual intake vents, brow vents and a three-way chin vent plus five exhausts. The VAS-V MAX vision visor is Pinlock ready (insert sold separately) and uses Arai's F1-derived latch mechanism; the semi-removable interior features Facial Contour System (FCS) and speaker pockets. The Regent-X shell uses the newly developed PBcLc1 shell. Lower cost without compromising weight or performance.
- VAS System:
- The Variable Axis System shield mechanism was developed to enhance the shape of the shell, but the easy-to-learn changing mechanism is what most people are raving about. Quick, easy and intuitive.
- Improved Shield Latch:
- The VAS latch captures and securely holds the shield closed to help prevent unexpected opening. In addition to the de-mist function, the larger latch allows for intuitive and seamless shield operation.
- Improved Glance Off Ability:
- The VAS pivot cover is now smaller and lower than the previous design, yielding an average of 24 mm more area above the cover. The shell is now smoother along the Snell test line in the temple area, thus increasing the helmet's ability to glance off objects during an impact.
- Compared with the shell of the Corsair-V, the smooth area around the temple is increased by an average of 24 mm on the new VAS model. Having a rounder, smoother, stronger shell to improve glance off ability.
- PB-CLC Shell:
- Born from Arai's exclusive Formula One helmet technology, the Peripherally Belted Complex Laminate Construction shell is developed to be both light and strong. The upper edge of the eye port is reinforced with Arai's Peripheral Belt, custom woven in-house with proprietary super fibers to increase shell strength without adding thickness or weight.
- One-Piece Multi-Density Liner:
- A one-piece multi-density liner, tuned with varying densities according to the position and volume of each given area within each shell size, provides protection where it's needed most, and allows Arai to make a compact helmet that puts protection first, and is as aerodynamic and light as possible.
- Interior: Semi-Removable Liner:
- The top padding stays in place but the liner is fixed with Velcro brand hook-and-loop and easily removed for cleaning.
- Interior: Replaceable Cheek Pads / Ear Cups:
- Depending on the model, cheek pads, ear cups or the complete interior may be easily removed. All parts (replaceable or not) can be cleaned with lukewarm water and mild soap. Rinse well after cleaning and never dry in direct sunlight or near a heat source. Interior parts in different size thickness are available for a custom fit for every rider.
- Comfort: 5 mm Wider Base:
- The exclusive shell flares 5 mm around the base, making it easier to get the helmet on and off (for newcomers to Arai the initial 'snugness' when putting the helmet on or taking it off can be challenging).
- Rear Ventilation: One-Piece Rear Exhaust:
- Extracts more hot air from the helmets interior and improves aerodynamics.
- Rear Ventilation: Side Exhausts:
- Produce low pressure behind the rear vent for better hot air extraction. Integrated in the shell for better aerodynamics, reduce wind noise and prevent buffeting at speed. Inside, a small foam dam helps to absorb and diminish excessive noise, without reducing ventilation performance.
- Rear Ventilation: Neck Exhaust Vent:
- To enhance hot-air extraction from the interior. Increases the ventilation effect at the lower part of the helmet.
- Chin Curtain:
- Attached to the bottom of the helmet, the new chin curtain helps to further accentuate the egg-shape form. The curtain simultaneously blocks air intrusion from turbulent air below and increases negative pressure to enhance the exhaust function of FFS by drawing more air from the mouth area. The improved airflow reduces noise even further.
- Facial Contour System (FCS):
- To offer an even better snug fit and enhancing the comfort to the lower jaw, the Facial Contour System (FCS) works with a foam spring support in the cheek pad that compresses and rebounds, providing the necessary support without excessive pressure.
- Tested:
- The Regent-X, along with all Arai models available in North America, meets or exceeds the SNELL M2020 standard, but only after they all first satisfy Arai's stringent in-house criteria.
- DOT and SNELLM2020 certified.
