Longest lasting tires ever!

Bought this rear tire for my 2012 crf250r and have almost 50 hours on it and it is just about to be changed now. I have never had a tire last this long. The only thing I don't like is mounting this tire. It has stiff sidewalls and is hard to mount, but those stiff sidewalls can save you a flat down the road though!!

Solid TIre

I normally run Dunlop on my YZ 250 but decided to switch it up this time and order a Maxxis. My son and I only ride track but have been trying out trails lately and the trails have been rock and stump filled. The Maxxis tire has held up great so far, no chipping or wear even showing yet. A pain in the butt to install, I had to take to the shop for the install but that was fine with me.

Desert Racing Tire

I've gone through a gambit of tires racing AMRA desert series in AZ. I've used MX 51 (not good) MX 71 (better) Starcross (love this tire too). First I used this tire on my 450x with a tubless system installed running 8.5psi, This tire has had absolutely no holes or near flats (with slime showing) and I have only one knob with a chunk after 5 races averaging 2 hours. I use this tire on my Motocross track practices off season.. and my complaint is that it gets uber traction to the point of side bite pulling you out of a rutted line. Which can be unsettling at speed. I don't use the desert IT cause with tubless no worries about tube pinches. It finds traction in silt, sand, ruts, rocks, and found out on cactus as well. One tire has lasted 5 races, three months of practice, 2 months of decayed granite riding. Same tire for 15 months and still have just under half the knob height left.

How old are the tires being sold.?
If i bought this tire today, will it be a new tire or one that has been sitting in the wear house for a long time?
MotoSport Staff

We move through our tire inventory fairly quick. None of our tires sit in the warehouse for a very long periods of time. When you receive the tire you can verify the age of the tire based on the date code on the sidewall.

What is the tube size for this tire?
I bought a tube from this website and it was a front tire not a rear tire. So I'm trying to get this right and I need help on it.

For the 90/100-14 tire any 90/100-14 tube should work just fine.

On my current dirt bike, my rear tire size is 130/70-19, will a rear tire that is 110/90-19 fit ?
MotoSport Staff
Over 10 months ago Location: Portland, OR, USA
Yes the 110/90-19 will fit your 2001 RM250. 110/90-19 is actually the stock size tire. Im assuming the tire that you have on there is a Michelin Tire. Michelin sizes their tires differently than the other brands. Their 130/70-19 is equivalent to the other companies 110/90-19's.

I am trying to decide in whether to get this tire or the dunlop geomax mx51?
i ride in mostly hardpacked trails with lots of rocks and do hillclimbs.
MotoSport Staff

As far as traction goes, both tires will perform great. If you are looking for a more durable longer lasting tire- the Maxxis IT in rocky terrain will not wear out as quick.

I went with this tire, and I live in Arizona. All I can say is super impressed, Ive got about 300 miles and have around 45% tread left. The only thing I haven't tried is the Maxxis Maxxcross IT Desert, that is the only tire better that I could see.

not sure what you mean by inner tubing? possibly the tube or are you refering to the rim strip? anyways, no its just the tire just use your old tube as long as there are no leaks and use your old rim strip as long as its in good condition

Will this be a good tire for me?
i ride from track riding to woods to dirt road to mud pits to rocky terrain will this be good tire for me? bikes a yz125

I've been a fan of this tire. It holds up well for a cheaper costing tire. I've ran these in the mud and they work ok. Don't depend on it as a mudder tire, but for everything else they hook up.
