Eli Tomac continued his dominance of the 2018 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship series taking the win on Saturday at Thunder Valley and increasing his points lead to 28 over Marvin Musquin.

Tomac won for the first time at Thunder Valley in the 450 class keeping his season-long undefeated streak going and breaking somewhat of a curse at his home track that included a season-ending crash in 2015. Tomac had some company this time in Ken Roczen who finished second in both Motos for second overall. Roczen still fights through pain in his thumb left over from a crash that ended his Supercross season but he continues to improve and now has an overall podium to show for it. Blake Baggett took third in both Motos for his first podium of the season. Musquin had a quiet day (4-4) finishing fourth overall.

In the 250 class, Jeremy Martin fended off his brother Alex in both Motos to get his first Moto win and first overall of the season which gave him the Red Plate and an eight point lead over Aaron Plessinger. Alex Martin finished second overall after a (3-2) day.

Plessinger (6-4) who entered the round tied in points with Zach Osborne did not follow-up his sweep at Glen Helen with a podium instead finished sixth overall. Osborne, the defending Champion, took a hit to his back-to-back hopes with a fifth-place in Moto 1 and then got caught up in a first turn crash in Moto 2 eventually taking 20th for 11th overall.

Joey Savatgy who won the last two years at Thunder Valley appeared headed for another victory until an engine failure in Moto 1 with a few laps remaining evaporated his lead giving a career first Moto win to Justin Cooper. Savatgy was also involved in the first turn pile-up but managed to finish 12th for 17th overall. Cooper (1-8) took third overall.
