Heath Harrison won his fourth-straight "Clash for Cash" race and Travis Sewell won his fourth-straight AX Pro Lites class event and added another win AX Pro class win in Round 4 of the 2015 MotoSport.com AX Tour on Saturday in Memphis, TN.
Harrison seems to have little trouble getting around other riders in the "Clash for Cash" main event and enters the holiday break with a perfect 100 points. Steven Mages grabbed the holeshot but after Josh Osby tried for the lead both riders went down opening the door for Harrison and runner-up Sewell. Trailing Sewell, Harrison made a great pass cutting under Sewell for the lead and never relinquished. This is the third time Harrison and Sewell finished 1-2 in the Clash event.
Sewell, meanwhile, continued his domination in the AX Pro Lites and AX Pro classes. Sewell is perfect in the Lites class and won his second in the Pro class for his third podium of the year in that series. He leads both classes in points. Daniel Herrlein, who set the fastest qualifying times for both classes, got his second podium in the Lites class finishing second, and first podium in the Pro class and "Clash for Cash" taking third in both.
Sewell extended his lead in the Lites class to 28 over Josh Cartwright who took fifth in the race on Saturday. Harrison, who took the checkered flag in the Pro class for Round 3, took fifth this time around dropping him nine points back behind Sewell, who has 90 points. Harrison extended his lead over Sewell in the Clash event to 14 points.
The Clash for Cash event brings the Top 10 riders from the AX Pro and AX Lites races to compete head-to-head in a 20-lap main event. Riders earn points in each class as well as the Clash for Cash, which offers the highest payout of all the races. The new AX Tour season is capitalizing on last year's record breaking turn-out as more than 30 riders entered for both the AX Pro and AX Pro Lites classes. Additionally, more than $175,000 in cash and contingencies is up for grabs this year.
The MotoSport.com AX Tour takes three weeks off and resumes Jan. 3, 2015 at the Kirk Fordice Equine Center in Jackson, MS.
