Feld Entertainment and MXSports Pro Racing announced their joint venture for 2023 releasing the 2023 Supercross Schedule and the 2023 Motocross Schedule as well as the newly formed SuperMotocross World Championship.

2023 Monster Energy Supercross Schedule

The 2023 Monster Energy Supercross Schedule retains 17 rounds and visits all the usual venues hitting Anaheim twice while returning to Daytona International Speedway and wisely continuing with the Atlanta Motor Speedway instead of Mercedes-Benz Stadium in the mess that befalls downtown.

East Rutherford and Nashville return for the first time since 2019 and gates drop in Denver, Detroit and Tampa. The San Diego round moves to Snapdragon Stadium on the campus of San Diego State University leaving Petco Park for the first time since 2014 when Qualcomm Stadium hosted.

The 250SX West class races nine rounds while the 250SX East battles 10 times. Both 250SX classes face each other twice in East/West Showdowns at East Rutherford and the final round in Salt Lake City marking Rice-Eccles Stadium as the closing round for the fourth straight year. Three Triple Crown events also in store for fans at Anaheim 2, Arlington and Glendale. Riders get two weekends off between the Tampa (Feb. 11) and Arlington (Feb. 25) rounds and Seattle (March 25) and Glendale (April 9) rounds. The 2023 Supercross season concludes May 13.

2023 Motocross Season Schedule

2023 Pro Motocross Championship Schedule

In the new joint venture, Motocross loses a round so the 2023 Motocross series consists of 11 dates which perhaps many will embrace since the much-maligned Fox Raceway in Pala, CA only gets to open the season instead of closing it too. Instead, the Ironman National will end the season for the first time since 2019. Riders get a break between High Point (June 17) and RedBud (July 1) and Washougal (July 22) and Unadilla (Aug. 12). The 2023 Motocross season concludes August 26.

2023 SuperMotocross World Championship Schedule

The 2023 Supercross and Motocross seasons end with the brand new SuperMotocross World Championship which for the first time in history presents a three-round play-off format combining Supercross and Motocross.

How does the SuperMotocross World Championship Work?

Supercross and Motocross still crown individual Champions in their respective series in the 250 and 450 classes then the Top 20 riders in combined Supercross & Motocross points for each class automatically seed into the SuperMotocross World Championship playoffs. Riders outside the Top 20 in total points but who won a Supercross Main Event or overall victory in Motocross can qualify for the final 10 positions by racing in a Last Chance Qualifier.

SuperMotocross evens the field by negating all points won in the Supercross and Motocross seasons and raises the stakes by offering a max of 26 points for the Round 1 winner, 52 points for the Round 2 winner and 78 points for the final round winner in a two Moto format for each round. Yes, the SuperMotocross World Champion might not be the reigning Supercross and/or Motocross Champion. Lots of money on the line as Feld and MX Sports now have competition from the World Supercross Series which begins a two-round venture this month with plans to expand in 2023.
