Eli Tomac became the third person in eight tries to win the $1 million prize with a sweep of the 2018 Monster Energy Cup on Saturday at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas.

Tomac quickly grabbed the lead in the first two races and took home wins but needed some help in the final race after getting caught in a first turn bunch up. Tomac worked his way up from seventh-place to second on the final lap as teammate and first year 450 class rider Joey Savatgy gave him the go-ahead for the lead, the sweep and the million dollar payday.

The salve most certainly helps heal some of the wound left over from the Motocross of Nations the week prior when Tomac, Justin Barcia and Aaron Plessinger were unable to give Team USA the win on home soil. Savatgy settled on third overall while Jason Anderson, the 2018 450 class Supercross champion, took second overall. Barcia took fourth overall.

Marvin Musquin, last year's million dollar winner, needed a pit stop in the third race after the opening bump and grind and finished 10th. Four-time Supercross Champion and the now retired Ryan Villopoto, who won the million at the inaugural Monster Cup in 2011, took 12th overall.
