Yoshimura Exhaust

Hideo "Pops" Yoshimura started his company, appropriately named, Yoshimura in 1954 after finding success and building a reputation working on BSA and Triumph motorcycles owned by servicemen stationed in Japan. The Yoshimura talent centered on modifying existing parts for more power, particularly the exhaust system. Yoshimura knew his way around just about any engine but he excelled with motorcycles. Yoshimura developed a customer base and the company prospered but "Pops" wasn't content. He made it a goal to get to Daytona but first stopped in North Hollywood in 1971 by opening a shop - Yoshimura Research and Development of America. In 1976, the inaugural AMA Superbike series held its first race in Daytona. Yoshimura and his rider Wes Cooley finished fourth but they were just getting started. In 1977, Yoshimura and Cooley finished third. The next year, rider Steve McLaughlin won the Daytona Superbike race on a Yoshimura built Suzuki. In 1979, Team Yoshimura became the first team to sweep a podium at the AMA Superbike race. Cooley won the 1979 and 1980 AMA Superbike titles. Not much has changed over the years other than technological advances. All Yoshimura exhausts continue to be welded by hand. What motivated "Pops" so many years ago motivates Yoshimura the company today: racing and winning.

Today, Yoshimura manufactures complete exhaust systems and slip-ons for motorcycles.
