World War I Gives Way to BMW Motorcycles

BMW started making aircraft engines prior to World War 1 in 1916. After the war, with the Treaty of Versailles banning the manufacturing of aircraft in Germany, BMW changed its focus to other products and embraced the car and motorcycle.

The first BMW motorcycle gripped the road in 1923 and was called the R32. It featured a flat-twin boxer engine, a shaft drive and became the model for all future boxer-powered BMW motorcycles. BMW did not make a chain-drive motorcycle until 1994 with the F650.

Today, BMW manufacturers models for off-road, dual-purpose, sport and touring fans. The company's most popular model is the R1200GS series and its counterpart the R1200GS Adventure. The flat-twin boxer engine born with the R32 is still in use today.

MotoSport doesn't carry BMW motorcycle parts for the R32 however we do reach back to 1993 starting with the 1100 RS series. We have BMW motorcycle parts for 37 models including the popular 1100 series and the F 700GS and 800GS on-off road line.
