I have a 2001 GSXR 1000 that I have done a lot of things too my bike. This undertail on my bike looks super clean, matches my paint, and it is a great addition to the back end of my bike. However, the instructions suck!!!! Step 1 was good with no issues. Step 2 says cut a small piece off the "glove box" and your good, not true. I had to cut everything on the out side of the inner box and zip tie it up so the undertail would even match up with the rear fender and then zip tie to succor the "glove box" or it would dangle because I had to cut of the screw mounts to allow the box to go higher in the rear fender. Step 3 there was no issues. Step 4, make and drill well placed wholes? Lame! I bought a side mount license plate bracket because I didn't want to drill wholes in the new undertail and in my opinion it looks so much better with the open look. Part B of step 4 was the wiring instructions... what a joke! I had my friend who is in Electrician School help me because I couldn't figure it out. We had to trial and error because of the vagueness of the directions, no joke even for someone who is in school to do so. Step 5, you have to drill your own 3rd and 4th wholes on your rear fender and then go buy more rivets to put in the 3rd and 4th whole because you only get 2 rivets instead of 4 but there is 4 wholes to put in rivets on the undertail to succor it to the rear fender, Lame but cheap! So honestly, my opinion would still be this: I would buy this product again because it looks awesome on my bike and I absolutely love the new lights and the open look it gives the back end of my gixxer but I would not suggest taking it to a dealer if you like things done your way and not by someone else who gets an hourly wage and doesn't care about your bike because this job will require some time, tools, tender loving care, and good luck with the wiring. You will love it when its done and you will snap chat and facebook it to all your friends... because I did!

The installation was fairly easy. The look and feel running down the freeway is amazing. The only issue I have are the license plate brackets that came with it (2 small L-shaped plastic cutouts). So I bought a bracket for no more than $20 else ware. Other than that, totally worth it,
Installed this on an SV650, really improved the look of the tail section. Fit was not perfect, but it wasn't too hard to get install. I recommend adding some pushy-pin plastic rivets to your order... it's easy to damage these things and it's worth having some spares. The paint finish matches the bike well. The included brackets for mounting the license plate are merely adequate, and you're on your own for the license plate light (if that's something you care about - I didn't). Integrated blinkers are neat, but they are not bright during the daytime.
I bought this for a 2011 ZX6R. Installation was pretty simple, there was not much to it at all. There was a few things I didn't favor too much. First thing was that the stock tail light gets held in place to the under tail with a small strip of 3M double sided tape. The light is still secure and is still solid to this day with the tape. Second was the wire for the plate light was short and I couldn't get a solid connection. I ended up cutting the wire from the stock fender and just connecting it to the wire harness to give me the length I needed. I didn't have a problem with cutting the wire from the fender because we all buy undertails to get rid of it anyway right? Other than that fitment was great there was no issues hooking up with the oem plastic. The reason I gave it 5 stars because in the end it looks awesome and the price is well worth it. I have bought products from hotbodies before for previous bikes and never had any issue and I had no doubt in my mind after installation it would stand up to what they offer.
i have this undertail on my '04 12R, its several years old now, the undertail still looks good, it fits well, and i must say, when in april this year(2012) i lost the lense off one of the led indicators, i emailed Hotbodies Racing, and although the lense is not available seperately; i ordered one new indicator assembly($20) and within 10days it was delivered to me here in New Zealand, excellent service!!
Fabrication quality leaves something to be desired, install was pretty straight forward, went on U-tube and used their install video. The plate mounting brackets are a joke. However, once everything is installed and put back together it looks pretty sick. I also sprayed the inside with gloss black hobby paint. I wouldn't pay the 2 bills for a color matched undertail, over priced for what ya get.
The undertail itself fit fairly well as well as matched the stock Yellow to a T. I was a little concerned about having to cut away from the stock plastic tail to get this to fit, but overall once installed it looked wonderful. It definitely helps to have some kind of rotozip/dremel tool to complete this installation.
It's not mentioned in the description, but this is the undertail that covers the tail light. "Dark Smoke" hides the tail light when the ignition is off. When tail/brake light is on, it shines through the cover. Haven't received it yet, but will post more if there are any issues.
The main issue is that it does not come with the tabs to mount the rear tail light, the way they have u do it is double sided tape. The tail light seems really good and secure. Other then that everything is alright and looks really good. The fit is also a little rough
I just finished installing this kit ...but first of all, the picture shown for this kit is not correct... see below for the actual picture of this kit ('09 Ninja ZX6R). I was so exited and i thought it will be a direct replacement but found out the install requires some trimming / drilling. However, I managed to avoid having to drill a hole for the license plate mounting and also certain spot doesn't seem to fit properly.
Don't get me wrong... The kit does looks good but just expect the install will not be as easy as 1-2-3 !!
I have a 2005 CBR600RR red/black with a Jardine slip-on exhaust add-on.
-The color match is spot on.
-The fit is perfect. The opening is made for the OEM exhaust. The OEM is really fat. So more than enough clearance.
-The inside is reinforced with a heat shield backing.
-Only mod I had to make is drill 6 holes in my existing fairing.
-If you use license bracket you have to drill 2 holes into the undertail for mounting.
-Only came with 2 rivets for mounting. It has 6 holes!?!
-The instructions are so vague I just ended up taking Hotbodies advice and going to a professional for installation.
on the 08 cbr 1000rr it was hard to remove under tail, and was a little disapointed with the mounting of the rear section of the under tail, its a little lose, looks great otherwise
The lights are really bright and can be seen pretty well - only problem i had was installation - one of the holes for the bolts didn't fit and i had to drill a new hole to fit the bolts in - other than that it looks awesome
