As the pioneer of quiet performance mufflers, FMF raised the bar again in 2007 with the second generation of Q series mufflers, the Q4.

Built from the ground up, the Q4 is a completely new design, engineered for maximum performance while maintaining a sound level at or near 93 dB on most models. The Q4 is the market leader for low sound / high performance. Less sound equals more ground.

Q4 Details:

  • The Q4 incorporates Factory Forward Engineering to move the muffler closer - centralizing the mass for improved handling characteristics.
  • The new Hi-Flo formed end cap reduces weight and is less prone to damage.
  • The Q4 has an anodized aluminum canister and is lighter and quieter than the original Q model slip-on.
  • All Q4 exhausts utilize a maintenance-free USFS-approved turbine type spark arrestor so there is no screen to clean or burn out.
  • The Q4 employs free-flowing internal baffles and chambers, advanced sound-absorbing materials and a reduced weight.
  • Max Sound output 96 dB, most models below 93 dB.
  • Constructed from aircraft-grade aluminum and high-strength stainless steel.
  • Use with stock or FMF header.

Q4 on a WR250F

It fit like a glove, no problem at all, from pulling the Q4 out of the box to finish installation, it took max 10 min. Great sound, looks and super performance. I have the Powerbomb header, it slipped right on.

Q4 Slip on 09 CRF450R

Looks good easy to install, needed a quiet set up for meeting AMA sound requirements and to keep the neighbors happy, as well as a USFS Spark arrestor for the local trails. Defiantly a lot quieter than stock, no noticeable power loss, if anything a power slight gain over the stock can, and as always with FMF you can expect quality! Price is good too, if you need to get the sound down this is your best option hands down.

Wasn't a perfect fit.

When installing the slip on, it didn't fit the head pipe at all. It comes with a bushing that fit the ID of the slip on great, but was way too loose on the OD of the head pipe. (stock head pipe). It was a good .065 too big. I have a lathe, so I turned out a new bushing instead of laying on the silicone Other than that, I'm happy with the performance and it sounds great.

Q4 dialed in

I installed the Q4 after trying a Two Brothers pipe for a while. The TBs VALLE unit was a monster torquey pipe, but was insane loud. The Q4 is not quite as tourquey, but was a heak of a lot easier to tune. No pop, surge, or mad neighbors. The Q4 is the way to go on the DR650!

Rumble !

Easily installed,, and it seems to lower the DB output by lowering the frequency of the exhaust noise. Result is an awesome low rumble / growl sound.

Great Pipe

I have had this Pipe for about 6 months now and have no complaints. Made the bike run much smoother at lower RPM's with plenty of power on top as well. Great tone and not obnoxiously loud. Meets my State requirements for trail riding. Easy to install ...

Love this thing!

This slip-on is extremely easy to install,it took a total of about 10 minutes and that's with removing the stock muffler. Can't wait to add the header.

Much better than stock

I love my FMF Q4. Its so much lighter and more quet than the stocker on my 09 kx450f. If i had to do it again I would buy this they day I bought the bike. My only complaint is that the stickers peel off very easily.

Nice exhaust, could be a little better

Great looks, sounds great while maintaining a very, very responsible decibel level. The main area of benefit is the more compact design. My stock exhaust looked like a scud missile coming off the back of my bike. The 2 things I didn't like were, 1. It doesn't come in Titanium anymore, 2. Having to use RTV sealant at the header is just a pain, the sealant stinks to high h*** the first couple rides as it initially heats up. Other than that, no complaints with funtionality.

If I order the Q4 for my 2008 honda crf150r, can I put a Db dawg silencer insert in it and if so what size Db dawg should I get?

The DB Dawg is a universal product. You will have to measure the ID of the outlet of the muffler to get the correct sized DB dawg product.

Could i buy a new mid pipe to fit my rmz?
I bought this pipe off of someone on Craigslist. It's for a 2005 rmz 250, but the mid pipe is different and doesn't fit my bike. Am I able to buy a mid pipe to fit my bike?!

No. FMF does not sell a mid pipe for the FMF Q4 series exhaust.

Re:spark arrestor...?
It says in the description that the q4 comes with turbine spark arrestor but yet the q4 for my DRZ400sm has a chinsey screen type arrestor in the end cap!?! Why?

FMF Q4 Spark Arrestor Slip-On Exhaust will vary for each model of machine. The Turbine core is a different type of silencer core that FMF uses in a different model of exhaust predominately. Most all models of the Q4 come with a screen type of insert for the spark arrestor.

Will this fit my 2007 KTM 450SXF?
From the looks of the picture, I wouldn't think this fits my bike. The same goes for some of the other silencers pictured for my bike. They look very different than my current exhaust system. My current stock silencer hangs from 2 top-mounted brackets bolted to the bike beneath the sub-frame. I only see 1 hanger/bracket on the silencer pictured in the photo. Also, my stock header and mid pipe are a single unit, and this unit is bolted to the frame using an integrated nut. The stock silencer then slips onto this unit just below the sub frame and is connected by a spring, but the picture here seems to show an extension coming out of the silencer with an extension and integrated nut built into the extension. This will not work with my stock header/mid pipe combo. Last but not least, I need a product with a spark arrestor for woods riding, no matter which silencer I choose. Thanks in advance.

The images shown may not be the specific muffler for your bike (the website shows the same generic picture for any bike). As long as you correctly profile your 2007 KTM 450 SXF as the ride you are shopping for, the exhaust we send out will specifically be for that bike. This would be a great Slip-On to go with as it has a spark-arrestor and is also quieter than any other slip-on exhausts avaiable, Another to look at would be the FMF Powercore 4 which comes with a removable spark arrestor screen. I would also recommend taking a look at the Yoshimura RS-3 Comp Series Full System Exhaust, it is a full system, but is reasonably priced and does also come with a spark arrestor insert.

Will this fit a 2012 z400 is there a difference between the 2009 and newer slip ons and what they fit?

We do have this available for the 2012 LTZ400. FMF shows the same part number for the 2009 through current models. Please make sure to profile your ATV correctly so you receive the correct exhaust.

Jetting?
do you have to rejet for a slip on

A slipon exhaust typically won't effect the jetting. But if you find that you can not dial in the fuel screw you may need to. Jetting is a case by case situation.

I did. I bought the JD kit and did the airbox mod all at the same time. The CRF 250X comes from the factory really lean. It really woke it up!

Can u get it any quieter? Do u have to jet it?

jetting will not quiet the exhaust. I don't believe this can become any quieter from out of the package. You can contact FMF to see if they have any ideas on how to make this more quiet.
