Product Description

  • The Fox Airframe chest protector might appear to be a traditional chest protector, but looking at the list of features will expose how far beyond the norm this chest protector really is.
  • The main body of the Fox Airframe chest protector is constructed of a shock resistant Lexan polycarbonate that will help dissipate energy. The Lexan polycarbonate material is located on the front and back panels, shoulders, and upper arm for durability.
  • Fox lined the interior Biofoam padding on the Airframe chest protector with Lycra for a comfortable forget-about-it feel.
  • Fox designed the Airframe chest protector with the understanding that everyone deserves a custom-like fit, so they constructed the shoulders and upper arm protection to adjust to your body. The back of the Airframe chest protector is a two piece system joined by a Kevlar-reinforced Torsion hinge. This adds to the making of a chest protector that feels like it was designed for you.
  • The adjustability of the Fox Airframe chest protector make is easier to fit this chest protector with a neck brace. Note: Everyone is different and may require slight modification for best fit with a neck brace.

Breaks easily
This thing is total junk. The plastic that the straps attach to on the shoulder pad is so brittle that it broke the FIRST DAY I wore it. That caused the whole thing to fall apart. No crash, no impact, not even any roost on it. I can't believe Fox sells this as crash protection. The problem is clearly inherent to the type of plastic they use, which is too brittle, so I would not buy this chest protector. MotoSport was great in handling the return and I got the similar, but much better-built MSR Impact to replace it.

One of the only chest protectors out there that comes in an XL size. If you are over 6'-0" tall and more than 200 lbs you will be happy with this chest protector.

Lite weight
Listed as chest protector but when I got it inside it says roost guard only not for crash protection. I can take a couple shots from rocks, when I bought I thought it would protect from crashes. Doesn't seem to.

Horrible
Ten rides or so and the plastic broke that connects the shoulder to the chest on one side. 5 rides later the other side broke. The whole thing is connected with zip ties and I just bought the cheap peice of junk. It also rubs on my spine really bad while wearing a backpack which is now bruised so bad I can't even wear it. Lame

Saved me some hurt
I hurt my shoulder and was looking for a protector that would provide some shoulder impact protection. The Airframe visually looks like it provides the most. I tried it out the hard way this past fall. I was trail riding with my friends and was running 5th gear at a fairly fast pace down a road. After a creek crossing, out of nowhere popped up a boulder size rock and I hit it and endoed at high speed. I landed in a rock bed pretty solid only to get hit in the back by my bike. I got a concussion and severly broke my finger. I ripped my riding pants, tore my jersey ruined my helmet and totally demolished my chest protector. It was a major wreck. To my amazement, especially after looking back at that rock bed I tumbled through I could not believe that I did not hurt my chest, shoulders, collarbone or anything. Even though I totally tore chunks out of the protector and ripped it apart, I can not believe how well the Fox airframe kept me from getting hurt in its area it protected. Even getting hit by my bike. I recently purchased another one to replace the one I had on and now I will not ride without it. I highly recommend because I feel it offers the most protection of any chest protector I have been able to find.
Overall
Great chest protector, feels comfortable and doesn't feel like I'm wearing a bib....Works great with the leatt.

Will the LEATT ADVENTURE NECK BRACE fit this?

It should, some modification might be needed in the shoulder area for a proper fit.

I have an airframe, and the Leatt brace fits under it well with the shoulders needing minor adjustment. No cutting.

hey check out Fox's sizing chart by following this link: http://shop.foxracing.com/ecomm/web/pages/sizing.html

I am also 6'-0" tall and I have the XL size and it fits me well, but I am also 240 lbs #size 38 pant#. I have the straps around the waste of the chest protector as tight as they go. If you are only 160 lbs. it would likely be too loose around the waste for you in the XL size.

How do you clean this if you ride in the mud?
If i'm riding in mud should i spray it with the hose, or take it apart and put it in the wash , like the cloth part.
MotoSport Staff
Over 4 years ago Location: Portland, OR
No need to pull it apart, just spray it off with the hose.

I'd recommed washing with a hose and a soft brush with soap. The washer would destroy the padding.

It's going to be a tight fit and some cutting might be required.

How to know the right size for the chest protector?
Please let me know soon so that will be helpful. Because I am thinking about buying these things before I going to buy a quad next year.

In general, I'd just recommend going with whatever size you would normally wear in a jacket. So if you normally wear a size large, just go with a large and you should be fairly close in sizing...

How does this fit with a Leatt Brace ??
Over 4 years ago Location: gainesville,ga
i have a medium leatt and a large airframe and they will work together.it is very snug but it works.i had bought a raceframe and it will definetly not work without cutting the padding around the shoulders.i also got the grey airframe and it looks way cooler than the black raceframe.

Can teenage girls age 18 wear them?
MotoSport Staff
Over 4 years ago Location: Portland, OR
They could, it might not be the best fitting protector for a girl, but it will get the job done. I would recommend maybe trying one on first if you can or going with a protector that is designed specifically for women so you can get a comfortable fit.

My son is 8yrs old and chest size is 25" .What size would he need on the fox airframe chest protector?
MotoSport Staff Expert
They size chest protectors by weight and height. the smallest Airframe fits 60-12 lbs and 4'3" - 5'4". If the size is too big, take a look at the Pw-1 deflector made by fox.
