Description Item #DID000T

D.I.D is the number one motorcycle chain in the world. D.I.D chains are used by factory races teams from all manufacturers in race series everywhere.

The D.I.D ERV3 X-ring chain is the ultimate high-performance, lightweight, low-friction race chain available and is used extensively by many off-road race teams. The ERV3 X-ring chain utilizes D.I.D's patented X-ring technology which reduces friction by 50% over standard O-ring chains for minimized power loss. The pins on the ERV3 X-ring chain have been put through a patented heat-treatment process to produce a pin that is 1.5 times harder than conventional pins. The result is a chain that is significantly stronger and offers better wear resistance than many other chains on the market. D.I.D ERV3 X-ring chains feature a gold-plated finish that resists rust and adds a little style to your motorcycle or ATV.

  • Exclusively designed for motorcycle racing.
  • High performance, lightweight and low friction chain provides the winning edge in World Class competition.
  • Features gold color plates.
  • Average tensile strength of 8,650 pounds.
  • Wear life index: 3100.
  • For 250 - 750cc Rally, 750cc Superbike and 250 - 750cc Endurance applications.
  • Weight (per 100 links): 3.30 pounds.
  • Includes a rivet-style master link.

Half the Power Loss - Compared with Normal O-ring chains, D.I.D's patented X-Ring construction reduces friction by twisting between the side plates instead of being squashed. Normal O-rings and other makers' modified O-rings have squashed points that increase friction. The twisting action of the X-Ring disperses the pressure and minimizes power loss.

1.5 to 2 Times Longer Wear Resistance - Compared with Normal O-ring chains, the X-Ring's four contact points greatly increase its sealing performance. This keeps the dirt out and the lubrication in much better than any other O-ring. X-Rings have the greatest wear resistance of any other type of O-ring or non-O-ring chain.

Note for installing X-ring chains: As X-ring chains are wider than standard roller chains, when fitting an X-ring chain to a motorcycle that was fitted with a non O-ring chain as original equipment, it is essential to check that there is proper clearance of the engine cases near the countershaft sprocket and any other places of close contact. Failure to do so could result in damage to the chain and motorcycle and could ultimately cause the chain to fail.

THE best chain you can get

I've had this chain in my '01 YZ250F for a year now. I ride all the time. Mostly trails, just getting into scramblecross. I have not had to readjust it yet. The rivit style master-link takes a bit more work to install than a clip style but is much stronger. I'm not great about regularly lubing it but it still works great. I'm glad I spent the extra money for the chain and recommend it to everyone, especially if your riding a strong bike.

Good chain

Ended up using the rivet master link that came with it. It's more of a pain putting it on, but probably worth it. Had to tighten up the chain a little after the first ride but it hasn't stretched at all in the two rides since. I was adjusting my old high quality non-o-ring chain after every ride before this one. Overall I'm happy with it, even for the high price.

Good chain bad master link

The chain looks great in the gold the only thing that i didnt like is the rivit style master link. Like me most people dont have the tool to install them plus to work on tour bike and have to remove the chain you would have to break the chain and get a new master. If you get the chain get a clip style master link it will save you time and money in the lond run

Missing important information

the only negative that i have is that you guys didnt say that it has a rivot style masterlink. But i guess i should have looked up the chain myself.

Great chain for an O-ring. Beware that it came with a rivot style connector link. If you don't have a rivoting tool, buy one or order the clip style master link. I used the RK chain cutter and rivoting tool and worked great.

Best chain on EARTH!

This is the best chain ever. Its strong, light weight, and is extremely sexy in gold. I will not use another chain. Plus, Motosport has the best price anywhere (big ups to Motosport). I also needed it in less than a week to get it ready for a track day I had scheduled, they guaranteed it would come on a given day, it came 3 days earlier.

Big tip: lube that chain every other big, long ride or track day/ race when bike and chain is hot for long sprocket and chain life.

Awesome Chain

After doing research, I found this chain to be heavily recomended and having previously owned a DID, I repurchased and am very happy I did. So far, very minimal stretching, which means less tightening!

Only bummer is they dont make a master link for this chain, only the press on and I like to carry a spare link in my Camelback for trail riding, but I have never heard of anyone snapping a link, so should be good.

The chain seems to be holding up very well so far. The o rings seem much better then the last chain I had

Excellent chain...

Replaced my stock 520MXV with the ERV3, great chain. I recommend the Motion Pro Chain Tool w/ quad stake kit to put it on, makes the job real easy.

Durable

These chains will last you along time with or without taking good care of them. if you clean them often and continue to do so then these chains will last a very long time... Mine has been on for 8 months with lots of rides on it and it is still going strong.... CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN

Low Rolling Resistance

I was torn about going to an 0-ring chain on my 250SXF because of HP loss compared to a non-O-ring chain, but I also use it for off-roading, so I figured I'd get my moneys worth and it would help the sprocket last.
After getting the original grease off and a couple of rides on it I was pleased with the results of the "spin the rear wheel" test. Not as good as non-O-rings, but better than the O-ring chain on my other KTM.

A: The DID 520 ERV3 X-Ring Chain is a sealed chain where as the 520ERT2 is a non sealed chain. Both are very strong chains. The 520ERT2 would offer slightly less drag. For the best recommendation we would need to know the type of riding, riding conditions and bike you have.
I personally have the 520ERT2 chain for many years. Feel free to give us a call at 888-676-8853 and we would be happy to help you out with your order.

A: You should not have any issues with this X-Ring chain rubbing on the case of your 2011 Honda CRF450R. Only the 2002-2008 CRF450R models require a spacer to run an X-Ring Chain.

Q: Which clip style master link is compatible with this chain?

Over 3 years ago Location: Portland, OR, USA
A: For this chain DID is not manufacturing a clip type master link and does not recommend running one. Installing one on this chain will void all warranty. If you must run a clip type master link, the 520VM X-ring master link will fit this chain.
