Comfortable but a bit noisy

I've had this helmet for a few weeks and feel very confident in the level of protection it offers. I measured between the medium and large, and based on some other reviews, went with the large and it is a good fit. I live in Miami and it's summertime...it's hot! It's hot without a helmet, so of course, it's going to be hot with one, regardless of color. But I feel as though the design of this helmet lessens the discomfort by providing a gap between the top of the head and the helmet, so it is surprisingly "cool" inside the helmet. There are a number of vents that allow the heat to escape, and any heat that builds up is pretty much sucked out when you start moving. The airflow is pretty good with all of the vents open, and cracking the shield open at low speeds provides additional flow. The numerous detents offer a good selection of positions. The fact that this helmet comes with a clear and dark shield make it a very good value. I also think the dark shield adds to the cooling effect. Beware that when you go to change shields you are going to feel like things are going to break due to the plastic parts. It took a little getting used to, but once you get the idea of how everything works it isn't too hard. Not the easiest or quickest system out there though. I wear glasses and due to the close fit of the padding they are a tight fit. They are thin wire glasses too, not thick bulky ones. Having said that, they do fit inside the helmet and do not hit the shield. Just be prepared to have to adjust them from time to time. As some others have noted, the helmet is noisy at higher speeds. By this I don't mean road noise, I mean the the sound of the air rushing past the helmet. I ride a KLR 650, and the windshield pushes the air upward in such way that it seems to be directed at my head, so this could exacerbate the problem in my case. The helmet seals well in the front, and I have not experienced any fogging. I expect the some of the noise may be a result of the air passing by the vents, so perhaps this is the trade off for the ventilation.

The product was a Christmas gift, and was defective. The polycarbonate snaps for the face shield had poor quality. Returned for another helmet as gift for my son! I hope this one isn't defective !!!!

Good Starter helmet

The first thing that got me to buy this helmet was the look of it. I liked how everything was blacked out. Also came with a different smoke lens that i switch out during the day. Love this helmet good started helmet. takes a while to break in but fits well. Sticking with ICON helmets.

Icon Alliance Rubatone

I've had this helmet about a month and find it to be very comfortable. The helmet is very stylish and the flat black of the rubatone makes it seem as though you're wearing some type of high tech stealth helmet. The shield is supposed to be anti-fog but I've had fog build up on a couple of occasions. Usually opening the mouth vent or opening the shield caused the fog to quickly dissipate. The is a positive click when the shield locks closed. Ventilation is good and kept my pea head from overheating on hot days. The only ding I have for this helmet is that it is loud at highway speeds. Overall this is a good looking stylish helmet at a decent price. Added to that it meets or exceeds a number of safety ratings, so you can be sure it will perform its primary purpose.

This helmet looks great, and is very light, and you can see very good out of it. Thats probably the only good thing about it.. I didnt have any problems like the other guy with the shield or paint. But when the helmet is new, and you go to lock in the shield fully down, you will literally need a pry bar to open it back open. After a few months of openings and closing it, it gets very easy to open. The vents on it are basically useless. The padding sucks, i probably had mine for about 5 months, wore it every day, and it went from a large to an X-large. When going fast it is a parachute on your head. No aerodynamics at all. It is a way over priced for what you actually get. The shields they have to offer for change out instead of clear, also, suck. The tint on the one i had started rubbing off in about 3 months. The helmet itself will become VERY dirty and is EXTREMELY hard to clean after awhile. Overall i would buy 20 different helmets that are cheaper before id buy this helmet again. This helmet pretty much killed my interest in any ICON helmet there is.

Size Questions

Great looking helmet. Very nice quality. Just wish it would fit. Sizes seem to run at least one size small. Only way to get the 3X helmet to fit was to completely remove the cheek pads and even then the fit was quite tight. Its quite a shame as its a very nice product.

Looks great, hot in summer

Looks awesome, be warned though not a summer helmet. Stop for a few min and pour sweat. Have to keep visor up when going at slow speeds. Really doesn't vent well and kinda noisy.

Does this helmet come with an sai sticker on the back as per qld law?
Bought one from an American store and had a DOT sticker on the back, as per qld law, the helmet must have an sai sticker on the back for it to be legal. Does this one have it if purchased from you guys?
