  • Protection on the Tech 3 All Terrain boots are what you can expect from a company like Alpinestars. They have installed contoured shin plate protectors which have been injection molded with high-modulus polyurethane to provide a substantial impact and abrasion resistance.
  • Alpinestars developed an "ankle-brace" system for the Tech 3 All Terrain boots that has been patented, for ankle support. This system on the Tech 3 also provides ankle padding to reduce shock.
  • The sole of the Alpinestars Tech 3 All Terrain boots provide a rigid platform with the contoured tempered steel shank that has been over injected with a dual density rubber to provide tons of grip and give you sure footing. The All Terrain version of the Tech 3 line uses a deep lug sole to provide great traction when others boots will leave you slipping.
  • The Tech 3 All Terrain boots have extended inside and outside plate guards to provide protection on the side and toe-box areas.
  • The Alpinestars Tech 3 All Terrain boots have an internal plastic reinforcement placed on the inside of the boot. This reinforcement provides rigidity to the boot for support. Thick stamped suede covers this up and provides contact grip and heat resistance. The calf plate also helps out with grip, support and side contact on the Tech 3 boots.
  • Alpinestars uses reinforced leather up the back of the Tech 3 All Terrain boots, and their action leather on the upper section for durability. The instep flex-zone has also been stitched for additional support and durability.
  • The Tech 3 All Terrain boots will keep you strapped in with the four high impact resistant buckles that feature memory positioning and quick release buckles. Alpinestars uses Velcro® attached to the elastic stretch PVC extended gaiter to seal the top of the boot and prevent water entry.
  • Alpinestars adds plenty of comfort features to the extensive list of protection features. The Tech 3 All Terrain boots use a poly-fabric lining in addition to a multi-density EVA foam keeping your feet cozy. If you require a special foot bed Alpinestars accommodates your needs with a removable anatomic foot bed.

" Ankle support and protection are good. Overall build quality and protection is good. True to size fit. Bad points. Buckling system is terrible. I actually have to take a screwdriver and pry the buckles out to get them loose. Also boots could be sealed better at the top. These are not Italian made Alpinestars, but are of course made where else but China. "

Good Boots for Dirt Riding
" These are very good boots for dirt/woods riding. I've been running in the woods and coal mining trails of PA for the past couple years with Tech 3s and they have held up well. Their lugged soles provide essential traction in the mud and woods. The only problem I've experienced is the latches - they are really difficult to snap. I have to literally beat on them to get them to latch - really annoying! Also, the boots are a bit stiff, even after a couple years of riding. I wish they would not have so much thick plastic on the parts that bend - plastic really doesn't break in like leather. Overall a good boot. "

" i used to ride with a stiff mountaineering boot and really wasn't sure if this would help or not. needless to say i was proven wrong, a great improvement for the cash, granted its no tech-8, but it does the job if you are a trail rider. a buddy of mine used a pair of Thor Quadrants and they pretty much fell apart on him, the buckles were very cheap. Alpinestars knows what they are doing, trust me when i say pay the extra 20-30 bucks. "

How do the all terrain soles differ from the mx?

MX style soles are more flat and smooth, where as far as a all terrain sole is more like a hiking boot sole.
