great the first couple of rides then the stitching on the inner thigh came undone - basically see my entire right side - very lame considering the price.

I do like these shorts, but I have a couple of small issues. The first is that the waist needs to be more stretchy. They fit fine once they go over your hips but I heard some stitches popping the first time I tried to pull them up. The other issue is they tended to get bunched up on the sides while I was riding. Can't really compare them to anything else tho because it's my first pair of riding shorts.
Used to get moderate monkey butt after riding all day. Ordered a pair of these bad boys, and lotion myself all over down there, and no more monkey butt. I can ride for weeks straight now!
Breathable, durable, compress everything nicely. Good padding for the tailbone. Ordered a Medium for 32" waist and it worked out great.
It was a little tight and stiff for the first day i used it. I felt confident that it would protect.
The specific reason I ordered these; the distinct photo showing a Fly. No other company offered that little feature for us Sport-Tourers. Turns out neither does Alpinestar. Ended up cutting my own. Satisfied with level of padding and comfort of fit. Mesh material holding padding keeps shorts fairly breathable. I don't plan on testing paddings effectiveness.
These work better than the skimpy pads that come in most riding pants, while providing better protection. Order by your current waist size, a little tight is better than a little loose. Sewn in pads are located correctly and offer good comfort. Need to see how they wear over a long period of time to give a higher rating, but if I only get half-a-season of racing, they are a good buy.
I always dump the weak hip pads in my riding pants and have been wearing these for a few years now. Traditional Alpinestars quality and durability. Order a size up for a true fit. Great padding, protection and comfort for all day riding. My previous pairs have lasted forever before finally wearing out around the padding areas where the pads started to come out of the stitching AFTER hundreds of washings. I STILL have and wear my first pair on extended riding camping trips for backups. You won't regret the purchase!
I used to get sore on long desert rides from my unforgiving seat cushion but not any more. These have pads sewn in not only for your tailbone area but on your hips where you usually don't have any type of protection.
Makes riding that much more comfortable
