Product Description

In 1991, Pro Taper introduced the 1-1/8-inch Taperwall handlebar and the industry hasn't been the same since. The Corona, CA based company expanded its product line to include clutches, sprockets and grips, among others, but Pro Taper never turned its back on what landed them in the motocross world.

The Pro Taper Contour Handlebar - Oversized is a best seller and made with the same quality as its Standard 7/8-inch Pro Taper brother, it's just, well, oversized! Check out the features that come with this solid beast and you'll understand why it's a must-have on the race course by riders like Nate Adams, Levi Sherwood and Robbie Maddison.

  • Made with aerospace-grade aluminum with 5 mm wall tubing.
  • Chemically applied scratch and peel-resistant "un-sticker" graphics.
  • Knurled clutch side for secure grip hold.
  • 1/4" cut guides for precise width modification.
  • Includes high-density molded pad.
  • Great value for bar / pad combo.
  • Bend and color for every application.
  • Note: Pro Taper Contour Handlebars require the use of 1-1/8 inch oversized handlebar clamps (sold separately).

Pro Taper CR High

Excellent bars for woods riding. They never seem to bend when you hit a tree or fall in a creek. Recommend these bars to those individuals who have a hard time with bending bars after crashes or falling over.

Overall
Durable Handlebars!

I run Protaper cr highs on both my bikes. Ive crashed hard and the bars didnt bend even when my clamps did, a set of clamps are cheaper than a new handlebar though.

Strongest bars I've seen bar none.

These are the strongest bars I've ever seen. Bar none. However 8 personally hate the looks of oversized bars, so if you don't mind the looks, they're definitely worth the cash if you want nothing but straight up durability!

Want straight bars? get these

These bars can take an extremely hard blow and not be affected like any other 7/8ths bars, i always buy pro taper oversized, otherwise small wrecks will bend your bars

Best bars on the market!

Great feeling higher sweep bars. Put a set on all my bikes. Henry/Reed is the only way to fly.

The best but still not good enough

They bent on me quickly but didn't bend much. I can still ride fine with them. Before the oversize 5mm wall bars...hard falls bent the bars so bad I could barely ride back to the truck. See the attached video where I bend my pro taper bars a little bit.

Best bars out there!

Ever since I switched over to Pro Taper its been really hard for me to look at anything else. I'm a C rider and as I get better I have a tendancy to have bigger crashes. No bent bars yet. I replaced them recently so I could have a taller bend. Infact the mounting bolts will bend before the bars do... I'll promote these bars to anyone.

Good bars

Bars were nice. Not as durable as I hoped they would be tho. I bent them and got a set of Renthals.

Pleased Customer

I love these bars, i got the Windham bend and i already had +10mm risers. This is an amazing combo for trails riding on my kdx200. These with pillow top grips makes an unbeatable combination.

Best bars on the market.

The first thing to be replaced on our Kawi's is the bars and the Pro Taper's are the bars to have, we love em, almost impossible to bend it seems.

Will they fit my 2014 yz85?
and does it come with a bar pad
Expert MotoSport Staff
18 days ago Location: Portland, OR, USA
With the stock bar mounts on your 2014 Yamaha YZ85 these bars would not mount up. You would need to buy 1-1/8" oversized bar mounts for these bars to work on your bike. Also, you would need to order a bend that is specifcally labeled as "Mini" in order for the bars to fit your bike properly. Also, yes, the bar pad is included.

Yes, the Pro Taper Contour Handlebars would come with a high-density molded bar pad.

What bend will fit my 04 yz250f?
what bend will fit my 04 yz250f but is closest to stock ?
Expert MotoSport Staff
1 month 13 days ago Location: Portland, OR, USA
Really any of the bends that aren't "Mini" or "ATV" bends would fit your bike. There is not a Pro Taper Contour bar that is the exact same bend as the stock bars on your 2004 Yamaha YZ250F but the "Henry/Reed" Bend would be the closest to the normal OEM Yamaha Bend. I would recommend looking at the size chart to see the measurement differences in the bends.

Stock bend for 2011 yz450f?
Just want to know what the bend is on a stock 2011 yz450f.
MotoSport Staff Expert
1 month 21 days ago Location: Portland, OR, USA
Pro Taper shows the stock bend as the Pro Taper "EVO" Handlebar in the "YZ High" bend. That particular bend is not available in these Pro Taper Contour Bars but the "Henry/Reed" Bend is very close.

Whats the closest to stock bend?
I'm looking to get these bars for my 05 yz450f. I'm looking for something close to my stock bend.

The closest bend to stock for your 2005 YZ450F, would be the YZ high bend in the Pro Taper Contour Handlebar.

Hi, my question is about d width of d bars. i'm thinking getting d pastrana low. wondering if d width is similiar to my kx 250 f 2011 bars. tq?

I am sorry but I don't understand your abbreviations. I will assume your inquiry is about the oversized pro taper bar. At first I was dissapointed with the durability because I tumbled my KX500 A** over tea kettle down a hill climb. This was definitely not the first time and the slight bend has not gotten worse. A ver strong and attractive bar. You must get special mounts for your bar ends to insure extra strength. Width...very wide...won't be the same as what you have most likely
MotoSport Staff
Over 6 months ago Location: Portland, OR, USA
Yes, the overall width of the Pastrana Bar is very similar to the stock bars on your 2011 KX250F. For reference, your stock handlebars on the 2011 KX250f are Renthal Bend 971. This will allow you to compare the measurements to see the exact differences. Also for these handlebars you will need an oversize adapter or replacement bar mounts. These bars are a 1-1/8'' handlebar vs the stock 7/8" diameter handlebar. Keep in mind the adapters will add about 1/4" of height to the handlebar location.

Will these handle bars fit 700 king quad?
pro taper contour atv high
MotoSport Staff
Over 7 months ago Location: Portland, OR, USA
Depending how much work you are looking to do to mount these, they may not be your best option. In addition to the bars you will need over size adapters also as these are a larger diameter than the stock bars. Also the bends are going to be much different than stock so the height and sweep measurements will be different. Unless you know exactly where you would like the position of the bars and how to reference that in the size chart you may end up with a set that does not sit in a position you would like.. The next issue will lie in the mounting of the meter assembly as it designed to work with 7/8th inch bars. Overall you can install them but it will not be a direct bolt on and for easiest installation it would be recommended you purchase the stock handlebars.

What bend is similar to the stock 2004 crf250r handlebars? Would rubber or solid bar mounts be better?Interested in the evo handlebars also which bend?
MotoSport Staff
Over 8 months ago Location: Portland, OR, USA
The Windham MX will be the closest bend. The stock bars were 802mm wide, 99mm Tall with a 54mm Sweep. The Windham MX bars from Pro Taper are 800mm wide, 99mm tall and have 53 mm of sweep. The Windham MX bend is available in both the Contour and the Evo bars.

What Pro Taper bend is closest to the stock bar on a 2012 yz125?
MotoSport Staff
Over 8 months ago Location: Portland, OR, USA
The YZ High bend in the EVO model bar is the bend that comes stock on the 2012 YZ125. All of the bends for the contour bar are quite different and can be compared in the sizing chart which is available to look at just above where you can select the handlebar bend.

I was wondering if this would look good on a ds 250 2013 and what accessories i would need to make it fo on??
I was wondering if i bought these bars what i would need to but to make it fit on my DS 250 2013 please help! THE BARS I WAS LOOKING AT ARE PRO TAPER CONTOUR HANDLEBARS-OVERSIZED 1-1/8
Over 10 months ago Location: Hilton Head Island, SC, USA
You need adapters for the oversized bars most likely it's a solid mount
MotoSport Staff
Over 10 months ago Location: Portland, OR, USA
These would work on your 2013 DS 250 with oversize bar adapters. Personally I prefer the look of standard handlebars with the crossbar but that is left up to personal opinion. Pro Taper does also offer a standard 7/8" bar that would bolt right into your existing mounts also. If you do go with the oversize bars, just remember that the adapters add about 1/4 of inch of height themselves to the height of the bars.
