Product Description

All kits include:

  • D.O.T. halogen hi / low glass lens headlight.
  • L.E.D. taillight.
  • D.O.T. turn signals (flush mount available).
  • Horn.
  • Ni-cad battery (9 ounces) - keeps the lights working when the bike is off.
  • Rectifier / regulator (keeps the battery charged).
  • Wiring harness.
  • Switch panel - high beam indicator light, turn signal switch, horn, headlight and kill switch.
  • Parts bag - contains all necessary nuts, bolts, zip-ties, etc.
  • Available in all O.E.M. colors including white and black.
  • Detailed installation instructions.
  • Some bikes do not require every component listed above.
  • All states require D.O.T. tires, some states have additional requirements such as speedometer / odometer, mirrors, etc. Please check state requirements.
  • Switch assembly features a modern style push-to-cancel turn signal button and an integrated LED high beam indicator. It now unplugs from the front wiring harness with a quick release connector eliminating the need to unplug any individual components to remove the switch.
  • EZ mount kit: As many parts pre-mounted as possible. Most components listed above are pre-installed on headlight shell. Wiring harness is permanently routed out of the way. Specific to make and model of bike.
  • Kick start models: Front turn signals, horn, battery and regulator/rectifier are conveniently pre-mounted on the headlight. Able to use on any kick start bike.
  • Electric start models: Front turn signals and horn are conveniently pre-mounted on the headlight. Stock with D.O.T. rear turn signals, mount to existing rear fender. Bike specific kits - wire length and connectors designed per bike. Race lighting will work on bikes with this dual sport kit.
  • Sold as a kit.
  • Notes: May require stator rewind. Yamaha YZF models will require the use of a Yamaha WR model stator, which also requires the use of a WR crankshaft.

Baja Designs Dual sport kit yz400f

I bought this kit to make my bike a dual sport, after install, i was told and found out that my stator and flywheel could not be used to run this kit, and i would have to change the wiring to make the CDI work as well. So after almost 650 dollars over and above the purchase price it finally works. If i had known all the extra cost i would need i would not have bought this kit. I wish i had seen that information before hand.

Yes, because your bike was not originally made to run lights you will need to install a stator with higher output. I would recommend taking a look at the Electrosport Lighting Stator or the Trail Tech Stator, they would be perfect for running this Dual Sport Kit.

This kit is actually specifically made for your 2003 Honda XR250R. The kit would include EZ Mount wiring harness as well as detailed installation instructions. It should be very simple to mount this kit on your bike. It should hook right into the bikes existing wiring and you shouldn't need any type of extra battery pack to run this properly.

I have a 2000 honda xr650r that I want to make street legal. I see this kit contains most everything but I did not see anything about brake lights. Does this kit contain them or do I need to purchase them separately. Also, do I need to rewind my stator?

The kit for your 2000 Honda XR650R would include Quick release style headlight assembly in red (kit electrical components premounted & wired behind number plate.)LED taillight assembly, Hydraulic & mechanical brake switch, Turn signals (fronts premounted to headlight), Hi/low/Turn signal/Horn switch assembly. EZ Mount wiring harness. License plate mounting bracket. As well as Detailed installation instructions. The Taillight combined with the brake light switches will give you a brake light. Also, You should not need to rewind your stator as your XR650R was already wired to power lights with the OEM stator.

Since your bike did not come with a lighting system originally In order for this kit to work properly on your 2008 Yamaha YZ250F you may need to have your stator rewound or purchase an aftermarket stator with higher output for the lighting.

Since that bike came with lights you should have no issues with having this kit work for you. Getting a higher output aftermarket stator or having your OEM stator rewound would improve the lighting output on your bike though.

This kit should work for your bike without any issues as long as it is correctly installed. Since that 1999 Kawasaki KLX300 originally came with lights on it you really shouldn't have to upgrade your stator to run this kit.

Dear all, for the 2009 YZ450F is a new stator required to use this set, but I canĀ“t find such a part in your shop (or anywhere else). Is such a stator available, or does another stator (maybe for an older model) fit to this Yamaha? Next Question is, switches for the brake light is also included? Unfortunately there is not a stator readily available for the 2009 YZ450F that can power this kit. The only real option requires heavy engine modification, It would be required to install a crank/piston/flywheel/stator from a WR450F. Unfortunately that is a very large project and it may be more reasonable to sell your current bike and find one better suited for this application.
